Executive Dog Lounge

When it comes to doggy day care in downtown Jersey City, there is the executive dog lounge and then there is everything else. The lounge is in a tier of its own when it comes to professionalism, personalized care, cleanliness, and reliability in providing a truly special environment for small dogs. We moved to the area at the start of the pandemic and realized fast that we needed to find a daycare for our small dog (16 lbs) who was very much used to having us around all day. James, EDL’s owner and manager, was gracious about letting our dog get used to the daycare environment while also being clear about behavior and scheduling expectations to make sure all the dogs are supervised safely. Almost six years later, we're moving out of the neighborhood but could not be more thankful for the lounge and neither could our little guy. At the lounge, poochies are “kids” and we are the “parents,” which says a lot about how things are run. No larger dogs or aggressive behavior tolerated. Dogs get multiple walks per day, eat their lunch separately, and get such personalized attention it sometimes feels like we get a daily report card into how our little guy’s doing. James is a master at ensuring the lounge is never overcrowded and is tireless in keeping the place clean. We’ve seen (and smelled) daycares where dogs are let loose in an unclean, empty room. The lounge is an oasis in comparison and the dogs absolutely know the difference -- our little guy strains and wags his way the door everyday because he’s so excited to come back. Then there’s the reliability factor. In almost six years, the lounge has never been closed without notice (rain, snow, sleet, flood or hurricane). The dogs know each other and get along great. We also know James’ staff by name and they know all the intricacies of each poochie’s personality by heart too. Simply put, the lounge is the right decision for any small dog parents looking for the best care in Jersey City. It's one of a kind pet care that you won't find elsewhere. We'd give it 6-stars if we could. Thank you, James!

EDL is the best! We moved out of state, but we still think about what a great experience our Georgia girl had every time she went to daycare there. James really knows each dog and their personality and quirks and is very knowledgeable about dog behavior in general. He was also flexible and understanding when things came up on our side. Our puppy Nathan had a great 3 day stay at this lounge made good friends with the staff...we recommend it and we will definitely come back if needed...plus next door the have grooming place if you need to have your pet groomed...

Love this doggy day care. It's a single room with velvet couches and takes more or less only small dogs (max of 20 lbs I think, but could be a bit higher). James (the owner) is great with our pup and the pup loves going there--he knows when he's on the block and he starts running toward the day care. It's not cheap but it's not exorbitant either for what it is. This is also one of the few doggy day cares that I've encountered that actually walk the dogs during the day (3 times a day I believe). I highly recommend it and we feel lucky to have this as an option so close to our place.

I want to start by saying thank you so much to James for taking care of my beloved Toby! From the second I entered the Executive Dog Lounge to moment I had to basically drag Toby out of the daycare (he loved it there so much she did not want to leave!), the entire experience was professional, kind and relaxing! My friend was visiting, and we wanted to leave Toby somewhere safe while we hit the city for the weekend. I asked around my neighborhood of well-trusted dog parents and everyone raved about the Executive dog lounge and the care James gives to all the pups there. From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, my heart was calm knowing my Toby was being properly supervised and loved. (Their version of boarding, Modern Boarding, was perfect for us!) You can see there is genuine care in the daycare from the way James interacts with all the dogs and how the dogs react to him. James will always be trusted with Toby! Sent from my iPhone
