(from Google)Signs say only for Smithtown residents, there is a entrance booth to check that wasn't visible on street view on google map. Beach is very close to the drop off area. but you have to park on the east side about a thousand feet uphill.
Off-season visit to the beach. Views from the cliffs are gorgeous (parking lot location). Picnic area is right next to the parking lot. Beach walk was the best part of the visit (you could walk up to Sunken Meadow beaches). Residents only rule is certainly enforced in summer (although Smithtown’s draconian residency rules apply on paper to all its beaches the whole year).
