(from Google)I grew up in Oyster Bay. Beckman beach was one of my favorite places to hang out.
Swim at your own risk in the very clean waters of Oyster Bay Harbor. You can find a parking space all day long. Bathrooms are near by at the western Waterfront next to building J. There are a few benches where you can sit and relax looking at the Bay. The beach is not raked by the town although there is a cleanup every year so there are still lots of shells and such which is getting to be a rare sight. The beach closes at dusk. It is usually not busy and so its a very quiet beach. You will also see swans and other shore birds here. Recently the Town bought the beach. There are many handicap parking spaces, this beach is now for Town of Oyster Bay residents only stickers are required There is a beautiful flag pole area with big benches for viewing the Bay. You will see Great Egrets here often also cormorants there is a fresh water estuary where shore birds feed on small fish recently this beach is becoming a very beautiful spot and will be a great asset to the beautiful areas round it. Most important remember this is a passive park which means no life guards on duty ever but you can swim at your own risk usually you see people walking around and wading or fishing there is a great swing set for kids and adults alike with new seats I like this beach a lot and I have been going here since the late 1950s I certainly recommend it more now than ever. And I expect this beach in the future to have lifeguards and restrooms In fact it should be required by New York State law. But before the accident happens law or no law they need a lifeguard on duty at least on weekends. Four stars only because of that.
Absolutely stunning seascape. It is a great spot to swim, walk , paddle, boat, picnic, fish and boat. You do need to be a resident to use the facilities. And we.
The beach is small and not crowded. It is a good place for family leisure, but the facilities are terrible! The path was paved with sharp white things, and my daughter was barefoot and was cut with a big wound!
Love this beach launch kayak spot, Is about 5 miles loop around the bay. water is clean, and not much of boat traffic. the beach launch area is resident only parking, is about 100 ft from the parking when high tide. Make it very easy to get the kayak in the water. However, the gate keeper wont allow us to park there, but he let us loading the boat. After we load the boat, we have to move our cars to the next parking lot which only 200 ft away. Go there early, otherwise it start to be pack after 10am and may park the car much faraway after loading.
