(from Google)From out of town on business and wanted to get on the beach one evening. Just happened to be during the supermoon so a lot of folks were out enjoying it as well. Parked on the side of the street that allows parking and was greeted by the lighthouse at dusk. A magical evening.
This is my favorite beach. My family loved how quiet and calm it was both on our morning trip 9a-12p and our evening/sunset walks. I grew up coming here and truly it's the same beautiful wonderful place it was then. Street parking was not difficult to find when we came, and the walk to the beach is more than doable. We also did the nature trail one day and saw lots of cool plants, a bunny, and even and eastern glass lizzard.
Great place to park and walk to the beach. Just make sure to not park where it says no parking and make sure your wheels are completely off the road. Short walk to the beach (depending where you park). We parked right next to the lighthouse and arrived around 1030A and there were still a few spots on a Wednesday AM. There is a little boardwalk to walk and then you are right there at the beach. It was much quieter and less busy than going to one of Folly Beach's beaches. If you come during high tide, there's still a good stretch of beach to set up on between the ocean and the dunes. And once the tide starts to retreat, it exposes several little sand bars. We didn't have much luck on finding much more than the occasional little shell. No sharks teeth :( We were there from 1030A-230P and even then, the beach was still rather quiet compared to other public beaches. FYI - there are no bathrooms here or places to rinse off.
A little away from the thick of the beach crowd. Nice short, wooden boardwalk strip to walk to get to the beach; at least 3 benches throughout the short boardwalk to sit; handicap parking spaces; beach area was clean and clear of litter; soft sand
A great beach access point. Parking on street (off pavement) was a little tough, but other than that all good. FYI, no facilities nearby.
