(from Google)Went for dinner at this smokehouse. Overall, a good experience. I ordered pulled pork platter and there was enough meat to make 4-5 good sandwiches if you were making samiches. The meat was smoked with pecan wood, was tender and not over sauced or spiced, so the taste of the pork really comes through. Two sauces on the table, one was sweet and smoky, and one was a vinegar-based mopping sauce which is typical for the Carolinas. Also, must try the cole slaw which has a unique flavor with a touch of garlic powder and the mac and cheese was VERY cheesy with a 12 inch cheese pull, slightly burned on top, just the way I like it. Also tried the pulled chicken which was also good but not as good as the pork, IMO. The stuffed baked potato was also a side and it was great as well. Being a champion pitmaster myself, I'm VERY hard to please when it comes to BBQ. I have tried BBQ all over the country, and I've yet to find cue that is as good as my own, but that's not uncommon for BBQ pros. However, out of all the places I've tried, this joint was as close to my level of BBQ as I've ever had commercially. It's uniquely Carolina style and there was a huge menu of options to try. We barely scratched the surface of this menu, but I was impressed enough to leave this review. Convenient to I-77, and the Lynx surface rail line passes by the smokehouse, but I couldn't determine where the closest stop was. Was just passing through and unfamiliar with the area in general.
Very good ribs and wings but the breaded deep fried squash stole the show. Anthony did an amazing job describing the menu and was very attentive. He pours mixed drinks perfectly. The interior was pretty cool and actually fit the menu. Great job to the owner for a great place.
Loved the old school music—it was such a vibe! Our waitress Alicia was very friendly and attentive to details! She took good care of us! Food was amazing! I wish I had a before picture but alas you’ll have to take my word for it. (My leftovers are pictured here). I had the smoked wings, garlic sautéed green beans and fried squash! All the food was 10 or of 10!
I’ve been a vegetarian since I was 7, and this is NOT one of those restaurants that isn’t vegetarian friendly. This place made me feel SO welcomed, even though it is a smokehouse. Ryan and Ashley were the absolute SWEETEST and SUPER accommodating, making sure I knew what was vegetarian and how tasty the non-meat food was too…and BOY were they right!! I got this mouthwatering fried squash—INSANELY GOOD. I also got a yummy quesadilla, and the cheese in it was perfect!! The mac n’ cheese is also vegetarian, and you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! True, perfect mac n’ cheese. They got salads too…can’t go wrong! Fellow vegetarians, don’t you fret! McKoy’s got you!😊💕
First time visiting McKoy’s. Aubrey was an excellent server who offered fantastic recommendations. As an appetizer, the smoked wings were on point. I had the pulled pork with a side of mac and cheese and fries. Everything was delicious and delivered to the table quickly. My friend and I split the smoked double-grilled wings into two flavors, the calypso and the teriyaki BBQ. I highly recommend getting the cornbread as well. All good!
