We stopped here when strolling Riverwalk since it is dog friendly! They had plenty of shade & the cider & food was great! One of the best pretzels I've ever had!

After our boat tour on The First Lady we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and found this place while walking down the riverwalk. The setting on a nice summer day made it the perfect place to eat as there are a lot of benches and people lining the area. We didn’t get any drinks, ironic considering the place is known for that, but we did grab a plain hot dog and pretzel. Both were pretty standard with the pretzel being the better of the two. This is definitely a place we’d try again (drinks specifically) if we’re ever on the riverwalk. The vibes are great and you should definitely stop by.

The Northman Beer Garden on the Chicago Riverwalk is a great place to kick back by the water. The location is the main draw—nothing beats sipping a beer while watching the boats go by. It’s especially nice on a warm day, though a little less fun when it’s chilly. Food-wise, the pretzel and tots are exactly what you want at a spot like this: warm, crispy, and perfect for sharing. Nothing fancy, but they hit the spot. The beer selection is decent. You’ll find something good to drink, but if you’re a craft beer enthusiast, you might wish for a little more variety. Still, it works well for the vibe. Overall, it’s a fun, casual stop if you’re walking the Riverwalk and want to relax for a bit. Good snacks, decent drinks, and a great location make it an easy 4-star pick.

We felt like the price was way too high for 4 hotdogs, 3 bottles of water, a loaded tator-tots and 1 beer ($107). The hot dogs were not very good for what we paid for them. We realize it is a tourist area so prices will be higher, but we expected the food to taste better and the servers to be more friendly. The area is beautiful with the river next to it, so that was nice.
