(from Google)Came for lunch on a Sunday, it was a little busy since the weather was nice but nothing crazy. We got a table outside and were told that our server would be right out. 25 minutes later we still had not been helped and hadn’t seen anyone around us getting service either. We ended up leaving after 30 minutes. I’ve come a few other times and service and food were okay. It’s disappointing that such a great location delivers such a underwhelming experience time after time.
My sisters and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with chips. Chips were crisp and tasty. The chicken salad was so mustardy we could not finish the sandwich. I never tasted any chicken. Parker was a very attentive server.
We stopped here for a quick bite. When the weather is right, sit out on the large patio area. Ashley provided outstanding service. We split the Philly Steak Sandwich with floppy fries and sweet tea. Excellent. Update...we had lunch with 3 of our Grands inside this time due to the extreme humidity today. They split Chicken Fingers and J's popular Mac n Cheese. The Fried Catfish PoBoy is great. My wife had the Steak Quesadilla.
J’s Corner is definitely a mixed bag. In terms of the ambiance, setup, and location, it’s one of the best restaurants in Columbia. I love how wide open the floor plan is, and how they have so many TVs in your sight line. It’s also a great place to see live music on a nice day, and seems like a great place to take your kids and let them run around. Having said that, the food and drink at J’s leave a good bit to be desired. The mozzarella sticks I got were below average, and reminded me of the ones from a grocery store deli, not a sit-in restaurant. The chicken tenders were solid but unspectacular, and the fries were simply not very good. I also got a vodka pineapple to drink, which distaste’s more like water than vodka or pineapple. In all, J’s gets a 5/5 for ambiance, and a (generous) 2/5 for food and drink.
Saw this place, walking around earlier in the day & stopped by for dinner. It's located on the next corner after the stadium & across from the state fair grounds. Beautiful weather, so we sat outside. It was cozy & comfortable. Very spacious and clean. Service was 👍 great and the waiter recommended the steak night specials that came with Mac n cheese (see pics) these pics don't do justice as it's creamy Mac n cheese w onions topped w a NY Strip...oh my! Catfish bites were yummy too. Salad looked so colorful, fresh and tasted delicious. The prices were great, $20 for the Mac n cheese NY Strip was very reasonable. Great menu with something, even for that picky eater. Pop in & try this place for a different type menu whether your on a budget or not,you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be coming back soon.
