(from Google)Just fell in love with this place. The vibe is amazing and the food, Oh. My. Goodness!!! Hands down my favorite burger, I ate my food so quick and couldn't stop bragging how good my burger was. I will definitely be back. Would love to try a slice of pizza next.
Pros: (1) More indoor seating than pictures seemed to show (2) Well decorated interior (3) Fairly good prices and portion size (4) Bacon was very well cooked Cons: (1) Noisy interior (needs more sound absorption (2) Slightly too much ricotta in the calazone - lumps were slightly cold and it overall made the calzone sort of quiche-like, which I found weird and not bad but different (3) Possibly the bacon is too sweet and overpowers the other flavors. But this one is sort of borderline and it is good bacon overall Info: (1) The Italian sausage and the garlic on the pizza were really all that noticeable, so you could leave them off
We discovered Grinder's this year, and have eaten here six times in 2025. Our favorite pizza joint used to be Old Shawnee Pizza, but we noticed their service started becoming more rude and inattentive, and their floors were filthy. I personally prefer OSP pizza (more St. Louis style) a bit more than Grinder's, by my wife likes Grinder's better (which is more like NY style). Without a doubt, Grinders service and cleanliness is much better than that of OSP, and you can't beat the outside eating area. It's a very cool building. Out of the six times we have been to Grinder's, the service has usually been good; however, a time or two, servers sometimes seemed to forget something we asked for, or not notice when we were ready to order.
If you loved the location in the crossroads district your going to love this just as much. Its a combo of both sides at this one location. Very nice little play ground and outdoor patio and just like the one downtown great atmosphere.
Had a mid week lunch. It was not very busy. Cool place in a cottage looking house sitting on a good size lot without outdoor games and some interesting art decor. Inside is equally unique. You can tell the owner is a very unique person. I had the Grinders Famous South Philly, but went with chicken over steak. Sandwich is stuffed with mushrooms, peppers, onions, cheese, and jalapeños. It also came with choice of chips or tots. Philly was very solid. It’s not at the lever of a true Philly cheesecake from the NE, but still very good. Tots were just like any other tots. Waitress recommended to get Cajun seasoning on it. I couldn’t tell much difference. Overall, this is a cool funky spot with solid food and service. It looked like the bar scene was pretty good as well, although I didn’t partake in this visit.
