(from Google)I discovered this restaurant while browsing Instagram for eats in Mayagüez and it exceeded all expectations. The ambiance is very welcoming and cozy. A special shoutout to our server, Natalia, who provided top-tier service and was very knowledgeable about the offerings. The highlight of the meal was the gnocchi made from traditional pasteles dough served with 'carne guisada.' It’s a brilliant fusion of flavors and an absolute must-order!
I had a bit of everything. Rabbit frassé, fried cod fish patties, croquetas, pork, it was all delightful and the staff was attentive. We came during a busy Christmas parade, I'm surprised the place wasn't busier. Very good place.
I'm born and raised in Mayaguez and coming back I'm thrilled to be back in my hometown of Mayagüez and discover new spots like Casa Abu. The excellent service from start to finish and the delicious food, especially the crema de maíz, made my experience truly enjoyable. I highly recommend this place, especially since they reopened just two weeks ago. Please disregard the old reviews and give them a chance. Let's support local businesses! Jorge thank you
Quaint restaurant with great food. Their oatmeal bowl should be legendary (posted a picture for reference). Their eggs Benedict is also wonderful. The omelet is huge so choose wisely if that's what you wanna get (i.e, don't stuff yourself before). The passion fruit and orange juices are fresh-made. The only down that I found is that if you're picky about steak (like me), it could use some improvement. Overall, it's a great place to meet friends for breakfast or brunch. The service is stellar! We felt like rock stars. Highly recommend if you're in Mayagüez. Edited to add that they recently changed management, so the menu is different from what I saw here. I'll add an updated menu.
Solid experience at Casa Abu! Found this spot through TikTok and decided to give it a chance since we were looking for a nice dinner spot not too far from our Airbnb in Cabo Rojo. It wasn’t busy at all around 7pm on a Thursday so we were seated quickly. It started to get busier after 8:30pm. The decor was very nice, clean, and modern. They also have a patio with seating but we stood inside. Our waiter was welcoming and attentive. The wait was a bit long but it was fine. For drinks I forgot to take a photo and don’t remember what they were exactly but I had a spritz type. Drinks were great! Our entree was the Rellenitos De Pana. Sooo good!! I’m obsessed with the sauce. For the entree we followed other reviewers and were not let down with the Arroz Campesino. It took me back to my family home cooked meals! Extremely flavorful and had to force myself to stop eating. We also tried the Churrasco Mofongo. It was also good but had too much salt. We preferred the other entree. The portions were big! Keep that in mind. I had a good time overall and would definitely recommend.
