(from Google)I’m not sure why this place sits at a 4.3—this is a 5.0 establishment, hard stop. Anyone leaving a low review clearly doesn't know high-quality BBQ. This is ad good as if not better than Terry Black’s at a better price point. This is his Texas-style concept, and everything from the ribs, pulled pork, pastrami, and jalapeño cheddar sausage to the brisket and sides is absolutely tier-one. The atmosphere is exceptional; if I lived in The Nations, I’d practically live at this place. Well done, Peg Leg Porker team. Oh, and by the way, his bourbon is exceptional too.
Pastrami sandwich hubby loved! The Mac & cheese was made with big shells (which I love) and was super smooth and yummy. The beans were some of my favs I’ve had. The ribs were okay. Filipe was a great help for our first time visit, recommended the pastrami sandwich and was patient with my questions. Stefanie at the bar was fun to talk and share stories with. Gave us lots of good recommendations also as we are out of towners who’ve visited Nashville for 50 years and are always looking for fun new dive bars
was really excited to try this place, but unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience. The street corn was served cold, which completely ruined it for me. That’s something that should either be served hot or clearly communicated if it’s meant to be cold, but this just tasted off and unpleasant. On top of that, the overall food quality did not meet expectations. It just wasn’t enjoyable, and I honestly didn’t like my meal at all. The hospitality also could have been much better. The environment didn’t feel welcoming, and that made the experience even worse. Overall, I left unhappy and disappointed. I was looking forward to this visit, but I will not be coming back.
The BBQ was cooked well it just wasn't hot or warm. My friends arrived after I ate, theirs was the same. I love the pepper. The Turkey was fantastic. I think they could be kinder service wise, because people don't understand how to order it's a lil confusing and we know it's about customer perception. Turnip greens were definitely pretty good-add vinegar? The potato salad was like when you let it soak up water after cooking. It need S&P mustard and maybe dill cause it's red potatoes. The BBQ sauce is fruity n sweet. I preferred the hot. The Alabama was very mayo--needed more horseradish, apple 🍏 cider. It's very good just wasn't my personal favorite, definitely will be back. I don't think that the BBQ aspect is presented CLEARLY. The portions are generous.
To paraphrase the great philosopher Harry Dunne, "Just when I thought Nashville BBQ couldn't possibly be any worse, Bringles has totally redeemed this town.” It took me 3 years too long to try this place. Excellent flavors, sides, and quality cuts. It’s as close to Texas BBQ as you can get without going there. The cole slaw was a little drier than I like, but I’m just being picky to try and find something to critique. Great job and I will be back. Cool vibes in The Nations as well.
