(from Google)Had a lovely early Valentine's Day dinner here with my husband this past weekend. The restaurant is a lot smaller than I expected, but it felt nice and intimate. We both started with the lobster bisque and soup of the day (veggie chili). Both were very tasty! For our entrees we had the ribeye and short ribs which were both cooked perfectly. The brussel sprouts were also amazing. My only complaint was that the bar / service was a little slow for it not being a busy night (8p reservation the Friday before valentines day), and my husband originally ordered the wagyu, but our server got confused and wrote down ribeye? We still had a great experience and definitely recommend if in the Odessa/Midland area!
We came here for an early Valentine’s Day after a recommendation by one of our friends. We were seated immediately with no wait time. Great looking place on the inside. Wasn’t too busy as we arrived, maybe 10-15 other people at the actual restaurant. I started by ordering dirty martini and my wife got a mocktail. Both were great! Took a little while to get the drinks but we noticed the outside bars were pretty packed outside the restaurant in the lobby area. We started our food with lobster bisque and some house soup and both were very good. Started to notice the service was getting a little slow as it took around 20 minutes to get back to us to take out main order or even ask how the soup were. We chalked it up to day before valentines other people probably have the same idea as us to beat the rush. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, I ordered the b&d wagyu as it came with potato puree for a side then for my wife she got the Wagyu short ribs and we split the Brussel sprouts. It took a little while for the meal to come out and it was placed down and the waitress immediately walked away. Problem was they got my order completely wrong. We didn’t see her again for another 20 minutes which I obviously ate my food by then cause we were hungry and it was great, but not what I ordered at all. When we finally saw her again I explained it wasn’t what I ordered and she thought I said the Wagyu ribeye which I did but I was brought a plain ribeye wasn’t the b&d signature cause it had no sides or sauce. All in all the food was great but the service definitely lacks hence the 4/5 rating. It’s customary to come back within a few minutes to ask how we’re doing or if everything’s good for this reason exactly. Good service is key at places like this!
I want to start by saying the food was amazing and delicious. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively impacted by our server, Yesenia. Some of our food was served cold because it was left sitting on the service trays for several minutes, as she was not attentive and seemed to forget about it. Mind you it was not busy at all, there were only about 3 parties in the whole restaurant including us. Considering we spent over $750 on our tab, we expected excellent service, but instead received poor service. Yesenia was rude, had an attitude, and was not helpful throughout our visit. It felt as though she was aware an automatic gratuity of $115 had been applied and therefore did not make an effort to provide quality service. The food itself was outstanding, but the service significantly detracted from the experience. If you are assigned Yesenia as your server, I would recommend requesting a different one, as she unfortunately ruined what could have been a great dining experience.
5 star service every time!!! The food is beyond amazing. Its always fresh and exceeds expectations. The servers are extremely professional and accommodating. The atmosphere is good for a casual lunch but also elevated for an intimate date night dinner out.
My wife and I had dinner at BARREL & DERRICK at 9pm on a Monday. The modern deco dining room was big, clean and beautiful, with low lighting. We were sat immediately by our host at a comfortable booth. Our server was considerate & courteous. We started by sharing a Peach & Burrata Salad, and for the main course we ordered the smoked Turkey Avocado BLT with truffle parmesan fries, a side order of grilled broccolini, the Ultimate Chicken Fried Steak with whipped gold mash potato and house made jalapeño gravy, and a Elysian Space Dust IPA. All the food was phenomenal. This was probably the best Chicken Fried Steak I've ever had, perfectly breaded & fried. This was one of the best meals we had on our 10 day road trip. I would be surprised if BARREL & DERRICK wasn't the best restaurant in all of Odessa. We spent $113.66 including tip, and it was worth every penny. Thank you, chef.
