(from Google)Ok so you driving along and see shak behind some bushes at a street corner. You heard the name so you stop in and now you are hooked. Food is great and had been for years... the price is not cheap but it's definitely good. The onion rings and burgers will make you cry they so good. The bath tubs for decor gives it a special feeling. Check it out ...Worthy
I was expecting more however it’s pretty cute. It’s outdoors surrounded by FL lush with a coy pond. We ordered the conch fritters that were pretty good, kids food and a chicken salad. The food was pretty good but with these reviews I was expecting more. The service was pretty slow and Its too hot go somewhere else as its inside. Also, they do accept card.
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner here - I recommend the grouper sandwich! He enjoyed his burger. The breeze was cool, the live music was playing our favorite tunes, and Shirley, our waitress, was a hoot!! Come in before they close at the end of the summer!
***CASH ONLY! *** What a fun local gem! The Chattaway has been a small restaurant since 1951, but the building dates back to 1921 and was a general store. This place is quirky Old Florida at its best. The small partially open building sits next to an enclosed garden perfect for a daytime meal surrounded by flowers or under the string lights at night while listening to live music. This would be a perfect place to meet a group of friends for a casual night out. Tables under covered areas or opt for a spot in the sun at theong, communal picnic tables or one of the smaller tables. There are touches of funky Florida and colorful tubs of flowers throughout the property, including line the street-side of the parking lot. There's a small indoor room decorated in British tea room fashion where you could order a meal it book afternoon tea 48 hours in advance. Not that there's a separate website for afternoon tea. Since they're known for burgers, we ordered them, one without cheese and with their house made chips and the other with fries. The orders were missing some condiments and had extra items and the sides were with the wrong burgers, so not sure if the mix-up was when we ordered it or in the kitchen, but the waiter brought a bottle of mustard and we pulled off the onions, so we could enjoy our very tasty burgers as we originally ordered them. The patties were a good size and filling and there was the option to add a second patty, but the online photos looked like a regular would be enough and it was. We were told the grouper sandwich was also a good choice. Lunch in the sun without being by a busy street, which is the usual option, was a wonderful treat. I'd definitely come back for another burger and a beer or maybe to taste my way around the small menu. There are appetizers good for sharing as well. Beer and wine available. And some seating available at the bar. Large dirt parking lot available. Restrooms on the outside of the building. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5 stars
Wonderful experience. Very laid back joint. I spoke with three of the staff and they were all super nice; one even gave me a tour of the tea room. THE BURGER WAS a nice size, hot, juicy and tasty. The fries were crinkle cut and fried perfectly.
