(from Google)The place used to be out regular haunt when we lived at the apartments next door. Going back here brought back a lot of memories. Still going strong and the vibe on a saturday night remains the same. Keep going and i hope it always stays open.
This place is cute. Stopped here for a quick lunch before the long drive back home for spring break. The food was fantastic, the drinks were cold and the service was great. Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely come back. Highly recommend. Family friendly as well. Also had a happy hour going on a Saturday afternoon 👍.
Green Iguana Bar & Grill is a true Tampa Bay classic — and even though there’s only one location left, it still captures that old local vibe perfectly. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and full of that Florida energy with good music playing in the background.I tried the Cuban sandwich, which was absolutely delicious — crispy bread, juicy meat, and just the right seasoning. The Mahi fish tacos were fresh and flavorful, and the street corn added a nice touch of spice and texture. It’s one of those places where great food, friendly service, and a laid‑back atmosphere come together for a real Tampa experience. It’s a shame this is the last Green Iguana in the area, but if you get the chance, definitely stop by before it’s gone.
We had a solid experience at Green Iguana Bar and Grill. The food was very good and definitely the highlight of the visit—well prepared and satisfying. The atmosphere felt like a typical neighborhood dive bar, but a notch above the usual, making it a comfortable and relaxed place to hang out. Service, however, was only okay. Our server disappeared for a noticeable stretch of time, and while we were waiting, another couple came in, waited quite a while to be seated, and eventually left without being helped. That was unfortunate to see and took away a bit from the overall experience. On the positive side, we really enjoyed the happy hour draft beers, which were a great value. With more consistent service, this place could easily be a go-to spot.
If you’re looking for a spot that blends great food with a lively atmosphere, the Original Green Iguana on Westshore delivers in every way. • Appetizers: The conch fritters are a must-try — perfectly golden, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor inside. They set the tone for the meal right away. • Burgers: The Black and Blue Burger is a standout, with bold seasoning and that irresistible combination of blackened spice and blue cheese. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. • Seafood: The mahi mahi with coconut rice was nothing short of incredible. Fresh, tender fish paired with subtly sweet, fluffy rice makes for a dish that feels both comforting and tropical. • Atmosphere: With two full bars — one inside and one outside — this is the kind of place where you can settle in for lunch, dinner, or just drinks while catching a sports game. The vibe is casual yet energetic, making it perfect for groups or solo visits. The Original Green Iguana is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Between the fantastic food, friendly service, and the option to enjoy your meal while watching sports, it’s a go-to spot in Westshore for both locals and visitors.
