Molly Pitcher's American Grill

We've been eating here since they bravely opened during the pandemic. The food is consistently good. I love their fried okra. Spicy pimento cheese is delicious. All the sandwiches are great. Actually, I've never had a bad meal here in over 5 years.

Took my mom out to lunch today & the service was so terrible I just had to leave a review. It was our first time here so we were super stoked to try it. We walked in & were immediately sat by the very welcoming host on a Friday afternoon. After around 5 minutes of waiting to be greeted our server (Sarah E) walked over and assured us that she’d “be with us in a moment” as she turned around and cleared plates off of the tables right next to us. It would've taken two seconds to ask for our drink order after we had been waiting rather than help a table who had already eaten but ok fine. Maybe she’s new so we gave her a chance. She finally made her way to the table to grab our drink orders and immediately jumps to trying to get our entree orders which lucky for her we were ready for but hey girl I think you skipped a couple of steps of service?! For the appetizer we got the spinach & artichoke dip which was a little bland & runny but still good. For Entrees we both got the Liberty Chicken Sandwich but I ordered mine as a wrap with a salad on the side. Our entrees come out & my moms is great other than the okra being slightly bland. My chicken on the other hand is horribly dry & my salad is missing. I ask my server where my salad is and she acts as if she has no idea what i’m talking about then runs to the kitchen. After “finding it” (which she admits it was sitting in the window.) I politely ask if I can get my wrap switched out for something else like a fried chicken sandwich “ok.” she replies not apologetic at all and walking away. After my mom finishes her food and I watch this server sweep/clean another table and run around the restaurant for another 5 minutes we realize she hasn't even put in my second order yet. The server comes back up to my table and asks “what would you like on that sandwich?” …shouldn't you have asked me that when I ordered a replacement? I get my replacement sandwich and didnt even have a chance to bite into it before being asked if we want the check. So I got a to go box and we paid our bill and left. Again, maybe shes a new server? i don't know but coming from someone who has worked in the service industry for years this was a super disappointing experience & I dont think we’ll be back anytime soon.

I always stop here when I'm in Wilmington for the delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly service. Their daily specials are delicious and varied. You can sit outside when the weather is nice too. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!

My first time and loved the atmosphere. I ordered a Chef Salad with grilled chicken and their house ranch. Delicious. My daughter ordered fish and chips. She said it was the best she had eatened. The staff was very nice. I will be returning.

Bestie & I love hitting ILM for Trader Joe's, geocaching and lunch. January 1, 2026 had us up & about early to hit Surf City for geocaches. We weren't hungry til late in the day due to early morning snacking so when we found ourselves back in ILM on an unsuccessful attempt for lunch at a favorite spot, we came back to Molly's. Our 1st lunch here was a good one so we had high hopes for a 2nd one. And other than our server being somewhat scattered (we had to ask for condiments & napkins) and when she spoke neither of us heard a thing she said. After she took our orders I was hoping they were right as she didn't acknowledge them and our cornbread, whike being tasty, was so crumbly that even eating it with a fork was a challenge. I had the Club Croissant with fries & fried okra with a side of that yummy cranapple relish. It was delicious. I'm not much for dark meat turkey but theirs is so good, I would order this sandwich again. And again. Bestie had the pot roast sandwich (same thing she had last time) and it looked so delectable that I told bestie next time we come here (and there will be another time) I'm ordering the entree of the roast. All in all, a perfect way to end our New Year's Day. Geocaching with my bestie with a pleasant lunch.
