Burrus Old Mill Park

The loop is short and sweet. There are deer trails that you can follow. There was a kind person walking their dog on the trail. The trail looked maintained. there was trash here and there. Not sure why it says closed (September 28, 2025) About 100 feet away from the middle of the trail. (South of the power grid brick wall ) there appeared to be two large clean tents. Possibly homeless. Didn’t call authorities because many people hike here and they aren’t causing issues but wanted to let people know it’s a decent park tucked away in the suburbs. Perfectly displays during the summer Missouri’s Subtropical climate. You kinda feel like you’re in the tropics a bit if you go during or after rain.

The playground is clean and well-maintained, and there’s plenty of open space for picnics or tossing a frisbee. It’s not overly crowded, which makes it ideal for family outings or solo reflection. The kids love the splash pad and the play ground. The park is awesome to cool off during Summer time. Also there is a Shaved ice truck that sells shaved ice to cool off as well. Highly recommend this park.

Burris Hill Park is a charming neighborhood gem that offers a peaceful escape in the heart of Blue Springs. On my recent visit, I was impressed by how well-maintained and inviting the park felt. The mature trees provide excellent shade throughout, making it a comfortable place to relax even on warmer days. The open grassy areas are perfect for casual play or a quiet picnic. The playground equipment looked modern and safe, great for families with young children. There’s also a paved walking path that loops the park, ideal for a light stroll or a jog. The surrounding homes give the park a cozy, tucked-away feeling without sacrificing accessibility. From my photos on Google Maps, you can see the simplicity and serenity that define Burris Hill Park—no overcrowding, just a clean, quiet space to enjoy nature or a good book on a bench. It's not a massive destination park, but its charm lies in its peaceful vibe and community-centered layout. If you're in Blue Springs and looking for a low-key spot to unwind, Burris Hill Park is worth a visit.

I hadn't been here in years. My family enjoyed the updated playground. It was a fun time climbing and exploring. Variety of playground equipment for younglings, normal younglings, and even the bigger kids. There's a volleyball area and even a skate park area there. I believe a hiking or walking path as well. I was able to follow my son with a stroller for my youngest up and around the park. Lots of slopes and ways to help with some access. Splash pad wasn't open, but should open Memorial Day Weekend until like Labor day Weekend when it goes back to slumber time for the winter months. We'll definitely come back another day.

A very cool park. Great for older kids especially. It was a bit hard for my toddler to access the bigger slides as there was a rope bridge and very steep stairs, but with adult help… he was able to get to the top and enjoyed going down the tall curving slide. Cute animal figures also
