(from Google)The parking lot was full, so we waited for someone to leave then began our tour. The visitor center was closed, so we passed and used the access for wheelchairs as we had our pups (2 chihuahuas) in their stroller. It was a longer than expected walk and too warm, so we left unexpectedly. Next time as head for Nashville.
Visited with my husband, two daughters, and our son, and it was lovely. The park is beautiful and peaceful, with scenic trails and a great outdoor atmosphere that the whole family enjoyed. We didn’t get to do the cave tour this time since it’s seasonal, but that just gives us a reason to come back. Looking forward to returning when the cave tours are available.
Even though Dunbar Cave State Park was closed when we visited, it was still absolutely beautiful and well worth the stop. The scenery alone makes it a special place, with peaceful trails, towering trees, and a calm, natural atmosphere that feels like a quiet escape. You can tell how much history and care is tied into the park, even just walking the grounds. I look forward to coming back when it is open to fully experience the cave, but even from the outside it deserves five stars for its beauty and serenity.
It is a nice place for a small walk or hike. They have a trailer across the park that takes you through the lake and beautiful views. There a quite a few ducks in the lake. They also have cave tours that run from May to September. I could not see it but will come next time for it. They have plenty of parking out here.
This is a great trail. It is about 1.85 miles from start to finish when you take the long way around. It is a moderate hiking trail.
