Lilliput Park

Unfortunately, this little park has fallen into disrepair. The community garden is completely overgrown, and a homeless person is using the garden shelter as a place to sleep at night. Empty booze bottles and trash are lying around. There is no picnic table or even a bench to sit on. I wouldn't bring my grandchildren here out of fear of needles buried in the sand.

The photos are of the old North Shore Drive where Grandma's marathon takes place every 3rd Saturday of June. Just to the south of this road is the Brighton Beach area( which is renamed with an Ojibwe name) it's a large rocky shoreline with Grady picnic areas, grills, playground, ample parking in mini lots that dot the roadway, bike trail, walking, ND a beautiful old stone fireplace shelter out of Lake Superiors strong winds . Bring a small bundle of firewood if you plan to use it. Some people do go swimming here later in the summer off the challenging rocky shoreline. Nice round smooth rocks up where you walk to the big boulders. Plan yo wear water shoes when walking on rocks or swimming. Some large flat dark outcrops of Basalt to lay on, on a hot summer's day. Beautiful forest surrounds the area.

"Back in my day, " as all good stories begin...there was a rusty (spinning wheel, propelled by humans, kids would go flying off, often resulting in injury...) piece of playground equipment in an overgrown patch of Hillside, surrounded by a fence that, when looked at, could cause tetanus. It was rickety. Nowadays, that place is beautiful! Not every day is the best day to spend at the park. There is a nice playground (sand), community garden plots, and community. "Hillside!" There are old trees that are on the perimeter of the park. There are no public restrooms or a port-a-potty, no running water, no grills or picnic tables. There are some of the kindest and most loveable people around there, so it makes up for the lack of what the city does for the park. It's a pretty park that is most often empty.

Not the park for tourists, but I bet it's great for residents that live a minutes walk away. On street parking only as the adjacent parking lot is for hospital employees only. There are only two photo tables and one c grill, so if you're looking to grill it may be tough to get in here. There is a very small playground and swing set with a community garden in back, but that's about it. Dog friendly poop bags available. Another review mentioned drunks and homeless crashing here, but there were none when I went by during the afternoon.

Green, clean, with picnic table, swings, sand, and a small community garden across back. Parking lot, good mix of sun & shade all day. Only one side exposed to low traffic residential street. Dog waste bags and trash can provided. Quiet.. can hear the birds!
