(from Google)Love this trail. Well maintained and lovely to enjoy a nice walk.
Beautiful pond next to the parking lot, with an easy trail that goes out as far as 2 miles to make a 4-mile round trip hike.
Love the trail, the pond, the goats, mules and overall atmosphere. Also love that there's never much people around.
11-6-22 This is the easternmost end of the farm. The MST runs through the farm moving west towards Bryan Park and then east out of this lot towards Shallow Ford Natural Area. The lot could probably hold 15 cars, isn't gated, and has a kiosk complete with map etc. No trash cans or bathrooms here. There is a pond near this lot. There are two trails accessible from this lot at an intersection. These are Prison Run Pass (1.1 miles) and Preachers Pass ( .7 miles). These form a loop so tough to get lost. These both intersect Breakaway Trail (1.1 miles on way) that takes you the western entrance of the farm. All of these are easy trails and are part of the MST. Prison Run Pass and Preachers Pass are mostly shaded, with very small hills, and not very scenic. Occasional open views of a field. I find both ordinary and rather boring. The Breakaway Trail is mostly open through fields. Easy as well with occasional hills. The donkeys, Jax and Opie, are off this trail and near the western lot. From a hiking standpoint, this isn't a destination for me. There are way too many trails nearby and way better sections of the MST that warrant a drive. The trails are great however for dog walkers, those new to hiking, older folks, or for those just wanting an easy stroll. Don't expect to be wowed with scenery.
I hiked the Prison Run Pass and the Chain Gang Connector trails at Guilford County Farm Park after work with my dog. Easy trails, mostly through the woods. It took about 45 minutes to walk both trails. A few people with kids were fishing at the pond. But I only passed one person on the trail.
