(from Google)Too many new dog owners not controlling their aggressive dogs. Today a new member with two dogs - one a friendly puppy and the other an old Chow mix - couldn't see that when my dog played and ran with the puppy the chow would charge in aggressively and bite my dog. She denied it was happening. We had just arrived before the new member but were forced to leave because she didn't want to control the Chow.
Great day @ the dog park. Max met two new friends.
Easy to access park. (Requires registration with the park service of Lawrence to receive a key tag). Loads of space, a great dog/human water fountain, and some nice benches. We've not yet been there when other dogs are there which is both positive and negative.
The park is in good condition, and every person/ dog we've met there has been nice. They only real complaint (and it's a big one) is that the gate lock is garbage. People can get in and out without a key way too easily, and the city really needs to fix it. There's also a lot of uncleaned dog "piles" left by inattentive people.
There aren't really activities for dogs to do here. The area right in front of the entrance had no grass, so when it rains, it becomes a huge mud puddle that dogs always run through. Half of the time, even in great weather, there is no one here. I hate taking my dog for her to run around by herself and look anxiously out the gate for another dog
