Pinnacle Mountain State Park

Beautiful peaceful serene place. Lots of good photo opportunities. Great place to come and admire the wilderness and reflect upon nature. Also they have some really good hikes. Be warned they are real hikes and will require hiking shoes and I would recommend a good walking stick as well. They have on-site bathrooms and they are very clean as well as a vending machine if you forget your water. We did the 2 mile out and 2 mile back hike and it was a very good workout.

Soooo beautiful! Many trails to see and explore - both paved and rustic. I spent half the day hiking and only covered a fraction of the hikes.

seriously an awesome experience. The West Summit trail starts near the playground, and is considered much less steep than the East trail. I appreciate that there is an easily accessible trail around the base of the mountain that does not require experience to traverse, and all things considered the base trail is flat. There are also some newly added flatter trails that seem accesible to bikes and pedestrians eith the new renovation of the welcome center and parking lot entrance. The West Summit trail is beautiful and decorated with natural-feeling stone stairs. East Summit is much steeper but still managable for careful climbers. Opens at sunrise and closes shortly after sunset. Generally quiet in the mornings, busy on weekend afternoons. Can be slick if the weather is damp. I encounter a lot of wildlife along the way - squirrels, slugs, harmless spiders and tarantulas, and beautiful moss. During Fall / Winter, colorful leaves are everywhere and it smells like autumn. 💕

Get away to the scenic wonders! In 2023, my husband and I visited this beautiful state park and hiked the base trail. We chose to return because we didn't have enough time to hike to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain. On March 24, 2025, we hiked to the West Summit Trail. This is a 1.4-mile round trip and an out and back trail type with 734 ft elevation gain. We completed the hike in 2 hours. The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked. There are a few seats along the trail where you may rest or enjoy the scenery. The hike offers breathtaking views of the surroundings and is enjoyable while being rather difficult. This trail requires some bouldering and scrambling due to its steep climb and rocky terrain, especially after point-7, where the path becomes entirely bouldery. We stayed on the summit for about thirty minutes, taking in the expansive views of the Arkansas River Valley, Lake Maumelle, and the surrounding area.

West side, three quarters of a mile climbed up in about forty five minutes resting from time to time. Rocky but fun trails with amazing views! Secure to hike solo, plenty of hikers yet you get your space and peace, everyone is respectful. The main entrance to the park has moved to the new visitor center so you will have to use the new road to access the west summit picnic area.
