Nice big place with a lot of trails to walk bike or run. Lots of wildlife to see and many species. There is tram service available as well. Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park in Mission, Texas, is a world-renowned birding destination and the headquarters for the World Birding Center, featuring over 760 acres of riparian woodland, native gardens, and trails for hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing (including bobcats, javelinas, and hundreds of bird species). Visitors can use a tram to explore, visit the visitor center, and enjoy activities like hawk watching from a tower, camping, and guided programs. The park is known for its unique South Texas ecosystem, preserving rare subtropical plants and trees

Came here 3/21/26 for couples Biking with church members Our first time here we enjoyed it. The night before 3/20/26 6pm we came to check out park and get familiar with the bike rental place since we had to be there early to get a bike, We ran into Ranger Roy told us info about the park, we could tell that he really loves his job and told us about a Night creature adventure that was gonna start within an hour. Wife and i said we lets check it out since we already here with our daughters We enjoyed it Looking at the small owl searching for spider and scorpions with black light

“Lots of wildlife to enjoy. We walked as far as the fishing ramp, but that only covered a small portion of the approximately 760 acres in the park. There’s also a free tram included with the price of admission that will take you around the grounds.”

I really like this park mostly cause is big. I can see having a picnic or biking . We came to explore for a couple hours but we probably need ro cone early in the morning to be able to walk all the trails. They charge $5 dollars per person to access the park. They have a gulf type car that take you if you dont want to walk. Is like for 8 people max. The park is clean and have pic nic and camping . Also if you want to fish there is the river. We still have to explore trails we missed but we will definitely come back 🤗

I loved my visit at Bensten State Park. I went on a hike hosted by Nature Ninjas Tours owned by Tiffany Kirsten and our group saw about 40 or 50 species that day. This particular hike was for women only. We were lucky enough to take a very good look at the birds right at feeding time and you get to see them up close through the wall of the gift shop. We got to see a piebald Chachalaca. We even saw an oriole eating suet. We hit the jackpot when we saw a bobcat and we also spotted a couple of Gray Hawks looking very cool while they perched and viewed their domains. Javelinas, wild turkeys, and bobcats roam this beautiful area as well. The gift shop is gorgeous by the way.
