(from Google)I visited this park while staying with a friend in Prosper. The park itself is nice and surrounded by massive, luxury homes. We walked around, checked the kayak dock, and watched the sunset. It was cold, but the sunset made it pleasant. After a short visit, we returned to our cars. That’s when the experience completely turned sour. Out of nowhere, two police SUVs rushed in and blocked the road. There were only three cars in the parking lot. Officers went car to car, and one questioned us about whether we were smoking marijuana and why we were even there. We were told that neighbors had complained. This was shocking and uncomfortable, especially since we were doing absolutely nothing wrong other than existing in a public park. It felt very clear that some nearby residents believe this park belongs to them simply because they live around it. The level of entitlement was unreal. If these neighbors don’t want the public using a public park, then they should buy the land, fence it off, and make it private instead of wasting police time and making visitors feel intimidated. This park may look welcoming, but the surrounding neighborhood clearly is not.
Learned about the Osage orange today. What a neat Park! What a neat Lake! Rolling hills and grass as far as I could see in an absolutely quiet neighborhood tucked away in Prosper.
Beautiful park and the lake is perfect for fishing! Just be very careful when you leave the parking area and make the first step on the grass especially when it's dark!
While technically it’s a public park, it seems designed more like a green area for the surrounding estates. To get there, you have to drive through a very upscale neighborhood with mansions. Because it has no sidewalks, the residents walk in the middle of the street, so be careful. Also, there is this sense of you not belonging there as residents stares at those car driving to the park.
We thought we would go for a nice little walk. It started off great but then we weren’t sure which way to go, got lost and finally made our way back to the parking lot. Maybe we missed the sign telling us where the walking trail was?? But the park is beautiful! Just need to stay in the neighborhood or know where you are going.
