(from Google)Came here to let the kids play. The parking is tight especially when everyone wants to come and play, there's street parking and a small parking lot. There is a walking trail going around the park, a splash pad off to the side and bathrooms. The kids love running around, and plenty of shade. Be careful when walking the grass has ground squirrels and it's a quick way to twist your ankle.
Nice hometown park that is full of beautiful walking trails in addition to the typical park activities for the kids, making it a great place for families to spend outside time together. Very clean and equipment has been kept up well. During my last visit I even noticed that some previous uneven areas under the swings had been repaired. Parties can be held here as well. This park is also ADA accessible, making it a place where people of all abilities can have fun. Since this review, the park has been newly renovated with several new playground equipment options, including a kid-friendly zip line, that allows the participant to sit, making it accessible for less mobile individuals (children & most adults). That’s an opinion based on my experience. A splash pad was most recently added this summer (2024)
The long-awaited splash pad project at Unidad Park is finally here. The grand opening will be July 25, this is a great place for the kids to cool off in San Angelo that’s free. 📍 San Angelo, TX 📸 @mrstravelquest
This park has been recently renovated and reopened in June 2022 with new park equipment. This is my kiddos favorite park in San Angelo. I love it too. There are shade trees to shade parts of the park from the blazing Texas summer sun. The restrooms are some of the nicest park restrooms that I have been in. They are always clean. There is a sand pit, an exercise area, a pavilion with picnic tables and park equipment for all ages. There are two different walking trails that circle this park. One of them is a shorter trail that circles the actual park play equipment. This is the trail I will walk while my kiddo are playing because I can see them the whole time and I am able to stay close. The other trail is longer and goes around the park and the open field that is connected to the park. This park is a five star park for sure and I definitely recommend visiting. There is a Little Library at the Park box to trade, take and/or leave books. The only drawback about the little library box is that the sprinklers hit it directly and the books inside get wet and do grow mold and have to be tossed in the trash. I have reported this issue twice and even informed a park employee about this but nothing has been done to correct the issue. With all the visitors that this park gets it would be nice if this was a functional library box.
We LOVE this park! It is so good for kids. There’s several playgrounds in the same space, there’s a sand pit with little diggers, a see saw and some great swings. There’s even a pavilion with a few tables to eat lunch at. This is one of our favorite parks here in San Angelo. Plus you can walk around the park on a sidewalk! It’s also shaded so it’s nice for the kiddos.
