Calm weekday spot. It has a few first come first serve grills and tables. I fish the banks from time to time. Decent spot to launch a kayak from. It can get a little packed later in the day. Opens at sunrise and Closes at sunset.

Peaceful and nice! Couldn’t find the trails but we were through the park entrance, not the nature center one, so they’re probably clearer up there. Saw tadpoles and I believe tortoises, as well as there was some people from UMHB that day having some fun boating. We didn’t stay too long, but I would still recommend it. It feels like a fantasy forest to me.

This place could be much nicer. I'll start by saying that the picnic area looked decent. The grass was maintained and cut and it looked clean. The bathrooms, I didn't actually go in because the exterior of one looked terrible. There were holes and looks like an attempt was made to patch it up. I took a walk down a trail and all I could see was trash and there was fishing line I had to step under or cross over all along the way. Not sure of there was maybe a bad flooding recently and that's why it's so dirty? It just made me sad. I did manage to take some photos to try and at least focus on what beauty was actually there. As in life, sometimes you just have to focus a bit, crop some crap out and add a little color to see the beauty shine through.

If you are a veteran visiting from the Temple VA, check this spot out if you want to fish and/or just chill and take in the sites. For families I would recommend Chalk Ridge, but this is nice too for a nice stroll!

I love this park. Not going to lie. I have got lost in here with my dog twice. The colored arrows could be better. You go on a 2-mile hike so you think. 10 miles later you find your way out feeling like you are at death's door. I can't be the only one that had this experience. But great place overall. My dogs love it. Once you learn it it is pretty easy to follow and have mapped out. I am usually there once a week. Great views.
