Waterfront means a 3 foot wide, tree hung launch for a canoe or kayak....its not a scenic waterfront. The spaces feel private and maintained. Bring bikes or a way to take some gear to the beach. Noseeums are a definite irritation but expected. Nearby is a great pizza place, and the Sunken Garden, in St. Pete, is well worth the visit....look for a Groupon beforehand.

We love this park! The fort is amazing and interesting and the beaches are clean and everywhere! Paying $6 for the day is incredible and so worth it. Beautiful park to ride your bike and visit the ocean!

Beautiful and historic place! If you love historical places and out door walks this place is perfect! The fort is amazing, well taken care of and has AMAZING beaches. Beautiful place to swim, and parking is easy! Just $6 to park. HIGHLY recommend.

Fort De Soto Park is among my most cherished destinations. I particularly enjoy collecting seashells there. The park offers a wonderful dog park, which I used to frequent with my dog. Additionally, a dog beach is conveniently located just a short distance away. From here, you can board a ferry to Egmont Key State Park or Shell Key Preserve. Visitors can also explore the historic Spanish-American War era fort. Ample parking is available for those wishing to access the beach. On the other side of Fort De Soto, there is a pleasant small park where one can relax and fish. Please note that the Island and fort closes at night, so it is advisable to check their website before your visit. It is recommended to bring sufficient food and beverages, as dining options within the park are limited.

Camping, biking, fishing, bring your dogs to the beach, exploring or just soaking up the sun - it's a great place to be. We camp here every year before we take off for our summer trips. It's a well maintained park, restrooms/ showers are quite outdated but they are clean. Campers with dogs is only in area 2. Sites are spacious & maintained. We had some rain this week & unfortunately it took over our camp site but soaked it quick.
