Elwood's Shack

We were just swinging through Memphis on our way back home to Ohio and found this place when we searched "best place for lunch in Memphis." Elwood's did not disappoint. We were greeted by a larger than life friendly personality and the food was outrageously good. Suggest parking via the Lowe's parking lot.

Stopped here for some Memphis barbeque after visiting Graceland. The person behind the counter welcomed us for coming, explained how they smoke their meats and how everything is made fresh. Every one of us absolutely loved our meals and even ended up ordering some Texas toast and potato salad to take with us. Excellent service, food and real smokehouse atmosphere! Will be planning to go here anytime we're in the area (or even remotely close to it).

So darn YUMMY! I will be back. I need to try more. The Brisket sandwich was good. I feel like it would have been better if I came sooner. And it needed more sauce. But i see the potential. I gave them 5 stars because they are always busy with a line going out the door and the owner or guy at the front handles everything very well. Great service.

MUST TRY!!! We were passing through the area and this was the most recommended BBQ spot I saw! Definitely glad we stopped in! We visited on a Saturday evening and there was no wait probably due to the rain thankfully! We ordered the Shaq Attack and it was great!! The ribs were AMAZING! Probably some of the best ribs we’ve had! I absolutely loved the chicken as well! The beans were super good! Customer service was outstanding. Next time I want to try the fish taco, nachos and bbq pizza! They all looked amazing.

New to the area and asked locals where to go and this is where they suggested. I had the pulled pork sandwich with the house made jalapeno and blue cheese slaw. It was amazing. 9 out of 10. My middle son had the half rack of ribs he had two sides, he chose chips and baked beans. It was good, I've had better, but he enjoyed them. However, the beans had flavor, and I wanna say jalapenos. Whatever they had in them made them the best baked beans I've ever had. Ribs 6/10 Baked beans 10/10 My youngest son had pancakes and bacon (this was late in the afternoon but they were still serving) They looked amazing and tasted as good as they looked! 10/10 My oldest has the wings full smoked jerk dry rub 6 piece. Again they were full wings so you could probably call it a 12 piece. His side was also chips. Wings were an easy 8/10 Overall nothing disappointed, however I did expect more from the ribs. The total cost was $73 Which seemed a little high but that sandwich made me forget about the cost. Seating inside was limited, they stayed busy, plenty of seating outside though. Parking was a little different. I just parked on the curb.
