The Salt Life Girl

This location we've always loved for quite sometime and additionally, also have been a customer for a long time as well. However, after more than one unforeseen circumstance- several unfortunately that lead us to have to change a bath service unexpectedly. This was based on a relocation and many moving parts that caused several delays that were out of our hands. Each time I did the right thing, called ahead in the timeframe that was expected and was extremely nice & honest that unfortunately I did have to move the bath but very Apologetic. During the conversations I had with the store, I had never been promoted at any point in any conversation w/ the store. That it would make more sense to cancel verses reschedule or there was a policy stating there was a number of times I could reschedule before a fee wound be charged. Then I'd also have to pay yet another deposit/ fee to rebook. It's all quite frustrating because more than once I had gotten their voice mail, it was full I was unable to leave a message. I had to call several times before reaching someone to handle the request. I found calling later in the day verses midday or in the am I tended to be more successful. When I called this last time to move the bath because we had hit a delay once again. As I was booking the next appointment I was told it would be 2 weeks and asked if that'd be ok. I said sure, I believe that will work. I'll call back if their is an issue. I was more than happy to work with them because their groomer was away for the next 2 weeks. I then was prompted out of no where they'd be keeping my previous deposit and I had to pay a new deposit. When I called this time I had waited to call until later in the day because of previous issues I experienced reaching them. This put me a few hours over their 48 hours to reschedule, it was less than the timeframe needed- a fee would result. I was quite shocked, frankly it was left as " well this is our policy basically deal with it." As I mentioned, I've been a customer for sometime, always loved the brand and this location- when I could have easily gone elsewhere. Let's face it, King street is hard to park on and busy to navigate more times than not. I have been a raving fan about this location to say the least but entire situation has really left a bad taste/ impression on us. The whole situation illustrates that this location is not into a good rhythm of professional retail practices and especially during a time where this economy depicts how important customer service is. This is significantly very important, especially to your regulars and one that was returning to the area to be an often patron. If you want to keep your patrons, sometimes life happens more than once or twice. Also, things with pets occur and that can add to changes again unforeseen. On one of the reschedules, we had to put one of our dogs to sleep. I didn't make a fuss/ share, I followed the rules. Looking back the lack of communication from this store upon initially calling the 1st or 2nd time to reschedule, regarding options before we went any further. Obviously they had no problem this time noting the issue/ policy to take my money, what was the issue initially? This is a big concerning flag. Bottom line, when you have devoted raving fans about your store and/ or brand. Those are the ones you work with no matter what comes up, as long as it's always a positive exchange between parties, because their your ongoing bread n butter. Also free advertising whom are walking around town daily. I would have just canceled the bath and not rebooked from the 1st time things shifted, had someone taken the time to be human/ honest " BTW " and had a conversation w/ me. Even a simple mention, one that their was a policy about rescheduling and two BTW this is the result how things are handled if necessary regarding grooming. A heads up, so your up to speed w/ information to make a good informed decision to either reschedule or cancel. Communication is everything today, it's all unfortunate- honestly on both sides. Hopefully this helps someone else!

This store is very unprofessional. My dog came back looking like he didn’t even get a haircut. I’m very unhappy with the results, and it was way too expensive. I really don’t think they prioritize the well-being of the dogs.

I have the worlds most stubborn and grumpy cavalier and this shop always makes me feel so welcome and accommodates my dogs needs so well! He doesn’t do well with other dogs or crates so I make an 8 am appointment which always works great for us as there is usually never another dog. They also handle him really well considering he always “pancakes”!! Will only bring him here :)

This place is so awesome for pet lovers. There are lots of custom made treats and ones like dried options I’ve never seen before. Even better on their dry erase board was a list of all the pet friendly restaurants in the area.

Nice store with wide variety. My dog enjoyed the treats, though the birthday cake was quite hard. The owner was nice and personable, I enjoyed hearing about his very speedy dog and seeing the wonderful pictures of her in action around the shop. The birthday hat I got here must be very comfortable, my dog barely noticed it and kept it on for a while.
