(from Google)It's Graciela Rivera
A lovely plaza steeped in history, here's a little bit about it: This park is dedicated to one of the greatest voices in the world of opera, the soprano Graciela Rivera (1921-2011). Graciela Rivera was born in Ponce and organized concerts from a young age to pay for her studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. Among her many achievements: in 1952 she became the first Puerto Rican to sing at the Metropolitan Opera House. In 1953 she was named "Citizen of the Year" of New York City. She was also the first performer allowed to sing at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico! Amidst dozens of accomplishments and experiences throughout her career, Graciela Rivera passed away in July 2011 in New York. Interestingly, the park that bears her name features a statue that isn't a monument to her, but rather the statue of "La Labradora," celebrating the rural woman. This is because the statue was there before the park's name was changed. The park was originally called Triangular Park, and in 2006, under the administration of Francisco Zayas Seijo, it was renamed in honor of Graciela Rivera.
Some things are quite expensive, but the staff will help you if you can't find what you're looking for.
I actually came there because I needed some copies and found a well-stocked pharmacy with good service.
