(from Google)I've bought aquarium supplies and fish from them for years and they've always done a great job. Best place in the area in my experience. Recently bought a couple of large tanks from them and had them delivered. Delivery was surprisingly fast, affordable, and the guys that dropped the tanks off were great. Shout out to Matt, 10/10 service. Highly recommended.
Yesterday I came into the store and bought a crested gecko and a cage for him. I got it home and the cage door was broken and the calcium was opened already. I brought it in the next day to return and was refused a refund and exchange UNLESS I returned the gecko and the cage. I refused to return the gecko because their cages are way too small and they neglect their animals. My geckos tail fell off one hour with in leaving the store… Apparently their policy is no refunds on animals and cages but for the package deal they were willing to take both? No sense at all, but I knew it was because they wanted the gecko back. The worker allegedly underpriced the gecko for 39.99 instead of 299.99. I don’t know how a mistake like that happens but regardless not my fault, it’s the stores. So the only reason a deal for a refund or “exchange” was offered was to get their money back. He claimed he could “fix” the cage but failed to do so. He said if I want an exchange I need to call ZooMed so he doesn’t lose stock on a mistake on THEIR part!! I know I won’t get my money back but don’t waste yours here. There’s pictures before and after.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this store. Over the past week, I spent more than $1,000 on an aquarium setup, fish, supplies, and water treatments that were recommended by the staff. I initially purchased 4 fish of the same species, and all of them died within a few hours. Following the store’s advice, I spent additional money on water conditioners and other products, cleaned the tank, and made the recommended adjustments. I then added 3 different fish, and they have remained healthy and alive. After waiting a week, I purchased the same species again from this store, and once again, those fish died while the other fish continued to thrive in the exact same aquarium and water conditions. What made this experience even more frustrating was the response from the store management. I spoke with Nicole, the manager, hoping for some assistance after losing multiple fish from the same source, but she was unwilling to offer any refund, store credit, replacement, or meaningful support. After spending over $1,000 and following the store’s recommendations every step of the way, I expected much better customer service. Unfortunately, I was left with dead fish, additional expenses, and no resolution. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this store. If you choose to shop here, be very cautious when purchasing this particular species, as I lost multiple fish from the same source while all my other fish remained healthy and alive. Update: I appreciate Gregg reaching out and offering to discuss the situation. My frustration was never about the money or getting a refund for a fish. It was about receiving different advice from different employees every time I visited the store. As a new aquarium owner, I relied on the guidance provided by your staff, and unfortunately the information was often inconsistent. After my first purchase, I was told I could add fish immediately and simply use the products recommended by the store. Several fish died within hours. After that, I performed water changes, waited a full week, and later purchased different fish that are still alive and doing well today. Last Friday, I purchased another fish of the same type shown in my original review. From the moment I left the store, the fish appeared extremely stressed and unfortunately died shortly afterward. When I later brought in a water sample, the ammonia reading was 0.2 ppm, yet I was told by staff that the level was acceptable and that I could still add another fish or two and just keep using the Turbo . What makes this even more concerning is that while I was in the store that same day, another customer came in reporting that four fish of the same type had died as well. I understand that this alone does not prove anything, but it certainly added to my concerns. As a business owner myself, I understand that problems can happen in any business. What matters is providing customers with clear, consistent guidance and making them feel supported when issues arise. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and after multiple visits I was left more confused than informed. I would be happy to speak with Gregg directly and review everything in person.
I’ve been going to this store for years and always appreciated the wide variety of animals and supplies. That’s why this experience was especially disappointing. On Thursday (9/25), I purchased 7 cherry shrimp. They acclimated well and are still thriving in my well-established, planted tank. On Saturday (9/27), I returned and purchased 2 zebra nerite snails after confirming with staff that they were freshwater. When I was shown the tank, I noticed that the majority of snails in this particularly large batch were flipped over and clearly not doing well. The employee reassured me she would pick out two “alive” ones from the glass, so I trusted her judgment. Unfortunately, by Wednesday (10/01), I realized both snails had died. I called ahead and was asked to bring the receipt, my water sample, and the snails. When I came in with everything they requested, the employee who helped me was actually kind and even suggested that I might want to wait for a larger, healthier batch of nerites. However, after speaking with his manager, he explained that since it was outside their 48-hour policy, the best they could do was a ‘one-time exception’ of 50% off, and that the only replacements available were from the exact same struggling batch I had already purchased from. In other words, I was being asked to pay again (even if partially) for the very same batch that had already failed me, instead of being allowed to wait for healthier stock. I reluctantly accepted the replacement. But shortly after, one of those two snails also died. The other is still alive for now, while my original nerite and the shrimp continue to thrive. I’ve tested my tank extensively (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, calcium, copper), and all parameters are well within acceptable ranges. My plants are healthy, and nothing suggests an issue on my end. When I spoke with the manager again today (10/09), he suggested maybe there were “different batches,” even though the original employee had confirmed all of these snails came from the same struggling group I saw on 9/27. He mentioned they were out of nerites at the moment and said he’d call me when a new shipment came in. At this point, I’ve paid for three nerite snails and only have one alive. Meanwhile, the cherry shrimp I purchased days before (supposed to be more delicate than snails) are still perfectly fine. I even acclimated the snails with both temperature and drip methods - about the most careful way you can introduce them. What’s most frustrating is the lack of accountability. I was sold from an obviously struggling batch, given no apology, and told “you’re the only customer with this complaint.” The person in charge of the aquatic section never spoke to me directly, even though this is now a repeated issue. This isn’t about the money, it’s about principle and animal welfare. It’s disheartening, especially since this is not my first issue with livestock here (I previously had guppies with parasites from this store). For a store that dedicates such a large portion of its space to aquatics, I expected far higher standards. Instead, I’ve been left disappointed and frustrated. I genuinely want to keep supporting this store - it has great selection and potential - but I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but this experience has made me lose trust.
I took my boys on a field trip looking to see if we could find a bearded dragon! We weren’t able to find a baby bearded dragon, so we will get a call when more are in stock. We did leave this shop with two magnificent turtles!!! We loved the experience and it was an awesome place to visit. This pet store has everything you can name. It has all sorts of animals, all sorts of supplies & a variety of food for a variety of animals. It was a great atmosphere overall.
