Nick's Kitchen and Beach Bar

Completely relished inside! Such a fresh change up so lightened up and modern beachy. Food came out so fast. Server was attentive. Best spinach dip. Free parking lot across the side street just got to walk a bit.

Some friends and I stopped by for lunch at Nick today to try out some of their blackened fish tacos, fried shrimp tacos, and chicken wings. We had the sweet chili wings. The wings were crunchy and tender inside. The sauce was not overly sweet and just lightly spicy. The 3 tacos were very generous with two tortillas each and completely stuffed. The fries onion rings were tasty and the coleslaw was mild and delicious. The service is great. The manager showed up a couple times to make sure we were happy. The noise level was perfect. We could hear each other talking. Overall it was comfortable and the servers were great.

We went to Nick's Thursday 06/04 for dinner. We were walking by headed down the seawall and my wife said, let's stop. It might have been the best decision we made that weekend. It was FANTASTIC. From the service, Shannon was our waiter, to the 'vibe', eating outside and feeling the breeze, to the food itself, was 10 out of 10. If you find yourself down in Galveston, stop at Nick's, it will be worth it!!!

If you’re cruising the seawall looking for a solid meal with a side of ocean views, Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar should be on your radar. We discovered it through Galveston Restaurant Week. They offered three course meals so diners could get a feel for what they offer. The portion sizes are insane. I never finish my meal, always take it to-go. You’ll never leave hungry. Service is always warm and friendly. Our waiter, Aaron on our first visit was an absolute character. He kept the jokes coming. Nick’s is part of the legendary Gaido family, an iconic seafood dynasty.

I understand it's the off-season, half the restaurant is under construction. So half was good. That's kind of the theme of this review. Had the crab stuffed shrimp, probably the worst preparation of shrimp I've ever had. The breading was dry, with no flavor, the crab stuffing was 98% more dry breading, if there was crab mixed in, I couldn't find it. The mashed potatoes were instant and also not good. The slaw was warm and not good either. The oysters I ordered as an appetizer were good, they didn't bring hot sauce though with them and my server never came by to ask for some. My wife's dinner was very good, fettuccine noodles in a Parm cream sauce, drinks were tasty. For a hundred dollar meal it was disappointing. Either change the recipe on the stuffed shrimp or get rid of it off the menu, what should be a spotlight item, is not. Overall not great., it's convenient because it was attached to the hotel but not worth the cost/quality for what you get. The view is pretty awesome.
