(from Google)Lovely trail, it was icy/snowy at the foot of the trail but the rest was fine. It just was super steep for us 😆 the views at the top were incredible!
I took my dogs for a hike, totaling about two miles. It was stunning and lovely. It required a bit of fancy footwork to negotiate narrower parts of the trail with my dogs who aren’t flawlessly trained. Really cushy “kitty litter” type gravel. Overlooks of the creek. Views of amazing rock formations. What a wonderful time!
Nice hike if you go down the lower trail with beautiful creeks and Mountain View’s! Good place to have a picnic by the water if you come early or on a weekday! The uphill hike is kinda hard but the views make it worth it!
Beautiful hiking area. My friends and I took the lower columbine trail and walked for a good 30-45 minutes up the trail and then back to our car. The trails are straightforward and easy to follow. We went during one of the first snowfalls. River still flowing nearby. A few people on the trail. Some walking their dogs others were trail running not suitable for strollers or bicyclists. It was an intermediate hike with the uphill walk and switch backs. Overall I ugh recommend this location and trail.
We parked at the starsmore discovery center and walked over. Easier trail, we ended up doing 9.1 miles total by going all the way up to upper gold camp parking area. Great photo opportunities. Got busy towards the end but if you start early and go on a weekday it isn't bad at all. Firm defined trail the entire time. Great for running.
