No good. We have a dying 17 year old indoor cat with failing kidneys. We've been going to this place for years and now they're insisting he gets his rabies vaccine. The cat is weak and sick and will be gone soon. He was getting bi-weekly treatments and now we will probably have to forgo those because they won't treat without the vaccine. There is a law about rabies vaccines, but it has exceptions allowed. I can't think of a better exception than on old, indoors, dying harmless cat that's weak. The office manager was heartless. Update: the vet called back and explained that they "do exceptions all the time for rabies vaccinations" but it seems the technician staff is incapable of handling an almost 18 year old cat, who weighs less than 8 lbs and can barely stand up as he's in the final stages of chronic kidney failure. Oh ... did we mention he is declawed? Yes, Friendship Vet will not give a rabies exception to a 17 yr old cat ... they are "scared" he will bite them. As "professionals within the veterinary sciences" they should (1) be competently able to accept and hold the hazards of their chosen profession and (2) get the human rabies shot, regardless of the price. Other selected fields of study require certain safety guards...Vets and their staff should be required to get the shot.

I used Friendship Vet for 3 years while living in Virginia. While the vet techs go above and beyond, and the main Vet is nice enough, the front desk receptionists are less than nice. It really doesn’t matter which one you speak to, they are incredibly short and very rude on the phone. When calling to make an appointment or asking for a refill on a prescription for my dog it’s like I’m inconveniencing them in their job. In person, they are nicer to your face, but after 3 years of dealing with them to make appointments and being met with a bad attitudes on the phone… it just gets old. However, the vet techs deserve all the praise and more! They are super kind, very attentive, and really listen to your concerns. I’d recommend this place solely based off of them.

We left two different vets in Virginia Beach and found Friendship in Norfolk. They are the best and really care about our dogs. Recently we found ourselves out of state with no meds for our seizure prone dog. They worked with an out of state pharmacy and made sure the meds we prepared. So grateful to the wonderful staff, and the Doctors for going above and beyond, always. So worth the ride for us!

First time here and I have to say the staff here is absolutely fantastic. From the front desk to the Dr. extreme care and kindness was given to us as well as our cat Jasper. Jasper was terrified, but the Dr and staff made him feel safe and comfortable. I'm so glad we chose Friendship for the care of our fur baby! Highly recommend Friendship Veterinary! 5+ stars

Highly recommend Friendship Vet, especially for cat spaying! My kitty, EJ had her surgery there, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free. I couldn't find EJ the morning of her appointment (some how she knew what was about to happen) but the receptionist calmed me down and reassured me it would be okay to be a little late! The entire staff is so friendly and caring, and they did an amazing job. She recovered quickly and is back to her playful self. We are so grateful for their excellent care. 10/10 recommend!
