The entire staff including Dr. Bates vet doctor listens to my needs about my pets. I am severely hearing impaired, and they always speak so that I understand what is going on. They help me as a pet parent by providing support to show me how to properly administer medication ointment and cleaning tools to do correctly once at home for my pet to heal properly. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are truly wonderful people. My Henry is healing nicely and back to his spunky lil self.

Should have known upon entering waiting room. No one in there and cobwebs growing in every corner and under most chairs ! Very expensive ,

Took our cat Rufio here after we noticed facial swelling and were worried about an abscess. They were able to give us an appointment for only two hours later (even being a new client) and STILL saw us even though SOMEONE went to the wrong vet and was 30 min late🤨 Unfortunately, Rufio’s best course of treatment was something we couldn’t afford; thankfully, Dr Barnes was able to execute a less costly treatment plan and took the time to explain everything in detail. The staff was completely non-judgmental about our financial constraints. In my opinion, that quality really makes a pet owner feel less anxious about seeking help for their sick pal even when they only have a few hundred to spend or the household bills aren’t being paid. Really appreciate the James City Vet Clinic Team for kindly helping us on such short notice today!! We will def be back (hopefully only for well visits!!) 🐱

Dr. Bates and his staff was amazing. Everyone was so nice and my dog loved them! He took the time to explain to me what he recommended for my dog and made sure I was okay with everything! Awesome Vet and awesome staff!!

So glad I found Dr. Bates and his wonderful staff! Their office is so caring and efficient. My pets love them. I have been to other local Veterinary Offices and was not pleased. Dr. Bates takes his time and explains everything as he goes along. I have never felt that "rushed examination visit" from him. You can tell he truly cares about his pet patients and their families. The ladies in the office are also good to call with updates (if the pet has to be left at the office--which I LOVE!) And, call with full information and reminders. Can't say enough good things about this office!
