This Trailhead is across from the Caroline National Monument and was easy to find. The views are fine throughout but nothing to write home about. The trial is extremely well maintained with minimal insect activity. Great if you want to get out and go on an easy hike

Really nice trail in Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve. Easy to walk. It is 2 to 2.5 miles in and out. Very shady at least when we went in February. Nice and wide, a couple of boardwalks. It takes you past Willie Brown's old homestead (there are some ruins-be kind and don't disturb them 🙏.) Then if you pick up the black trail it takes you to a lookout over the marsh. Beautiful view. There is an option to follow the blue trail which is the Willie Brown trail into the Theodore Roosevelt Area of Timucuan.

We experienced the best national park in Jacksonville. We had the pleasure of having a tour guide by the name of Rodney and he is or a team member does tours every Saturday at 1:00pm. I learned so much about the different Ecco systems, trees, animals, Willie Brown, etc. it was simply beautiful! Go check it out!

Very nice varied trail with areas of elevation. There is no cost for entry, and the trails are pretty clean save for a few bagged dog poos. Please pick up after your dogs, and carry the poop with you. I suggest a separate bag to hang on the back of your backpack or dog leash if you aren't carrying a pack. A lot of roots that can trip people up, but overall I didn't find the trail difficult.

Spanish Pond Trail did not disappoint! It’s a well traveled trail for bikers, walkers and runners. You can push a baby/toddler stroller on all surfaces ranging from natural ground to wooden walkways. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous with a rainforest of palms, pines, and Floridian plants. Near the St.John River you have a chance to see bald eagles soaring above. We saw 2. There are lots of tree roots that ride the surface so please watch your footing. The trail was not busy in December with temps in the 70’s it made for the perfect hiking day. Nor were we affected by bugs, but I’ve read that bug spray is needed (maybe in summer) My only negative is the small parking lot if it was a busier day. Definitely a place we’ll go back to because there are several trails and loops to hike.
