(from Google)Great trail. Not muddy. I take my dog there to walk. I'll do an out and back usually 3-4 miles round trip.
Cool trail! Some long parts of no shade so come prepared with water. But once you get by the water it gets pretty cool.
We loved walking on this trail during the fall! There’s a beautiful hidden spot where the water is still and a pathway where you’ll huge trees creating almost like a dome, if that makes sense. It’s great for leisure or brisk walks and jogging. It was easy enough that it allowed me to walk with my toddler with no issues.
Plenty of parking and a nice flat trail. There are turn offs from the main trail to trek further into the brush. I went eastward around the corner and through a tree tunnel. This wasn't very long and ends at private party. West is where you wanna go, but I was out looking for birds. Saw a lot of hawks and kestrels, quite a few finches in the bushes along the dried out creek. You can easily hear the traffic noise and planes flying overhead. At one point I even got a lone eagle flying overhead, an F15 species :P But, this is a very easy and flat trail. Nice to have so close as well. This would also make a great trail to bring little ones due to how easy and flat it is. With the single track offshoots from the main trail there is some fun exploring as well. I plan on bringing back my kids in the future.
Avid runner from the NW. Relocated to Northwest Boise and now Caldwell area. The North end trail system is one of the finest around however it isn't always feasible for me to drive an hour there. Kingfisher is a solid four star trail that I am giving 5 because of its location. From gate-to-gate one way it is 4.4 miles mostly flat, mostly sunny with terrific views. No fountains or sinks so bring plenty of water. I would recommend wearing a thicker sock otherwise you will have to deal with rocks and cheatgrass on your run. The lake is cool and I like to jump in at the halfway point 😁.
