(from Google)This park has a unique piece to it's adventure for the neighboring Arboretum at Mary Jo. The trees and punched of plants are labeled with scientific names. Also this nature area is historical and previously known as East Sioux Falls. Tale the time to walk the trees, trails and looks for the historical markers in the area.
We went for a picnic next to the river with friends on a playdate after homeschool co-op. It was a beautiful day, the kids played in the muddy River, climbed the rocks, used the bridge as home-based for their games, it was all any kid could ask for! There are a handful of hiking trails that connect to various other picnicking spots. You can bike or hike, rollerblade or rollerskate...plenty of parking, it's close to town but deep enough in the country to encounter real wildlife. We LOVE to use our plant identifier app to learn about native South Dakota plants,, Perry Native Reserve has all of this to offer kids, we find plenty of classic SD plants up and down the River. The only suggestion I would make that would give this location a 5 star rating was if there were toilets, at least portapotties, on site.
This is a great area for hiking, walking and just taking in all the lovely fall foliage. It offers a huge grassy area for dogs to explore, which is completely shaded by trees. The reserve provides many ideal locations for senior photos, family pictures, maternity shots, etc. The trails are very well maintained. It’s a pretty place!
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon. You can play in a creek, enjoy the shade of wooded areas, or take a walk from field to field. Excellent place for watching clouds and sunsets. Home to the oldest and largest willow tree I've ever seen. I particularly enjoyed taking photos of the wild cannabis that grows all along the river. 🌱
If you’re looking for a great place to walk or jog this is the place Beautiful with all the different trees and flowers
