This is a GREAT community resource. Walking, running, biking - hitting it hard, or leisurely strolling. The trail is well marked, wide, and paved. There are a few mild inclines, but nothing that could be considered "hills." Ample parking at both ends makes access easy, and at 2.5 miles, a round-trip is easily possible, or a shorter walk part way and back. It winds along the river and you'd never guess you are in the middle of a developed area. If you want a little nature stroll, a chance to unwind and reflect, or an opportunity to work out - this trail is for you!

just fun

This is my absolute new & favorite place. Terrific & beautiful views while walking or jogging. Very clean & safe. It's like walking through a photo. Place is also historic & peaceful. Good for walking alone or with a partner or family. Pet friendly. You'll thank me after just your 1st walk!

Very scenic and easy trail with many great views of the Catawba river. It’s heavily trafficked and also monitored by staff in ATVs so I feel it’s a safe place to walk or bike alone. Although it’s a pretty “busy” trail we always see a variety of wildlife. On less busy days you may even catch a group of deer walking through the wooded areas. Great place to feel encompassed by nature yet still very close to civilization.

This is the "second section" of the Riverwalk Trail. The area isn't quite as developed as the original section, and it still feels a bit more outside of the city than a standard greenway. The Catawba River offers beautiful views of the land, river, and wildlife. I especially enjoy how "green" the plant life looks surrounding the trail. You can't see any buildings or roads, except for the historic railroad bridge. A perfect place to unplug.

Nice, mostly shaded and paved trail. Easy to access and facilities were clean. Water fountains were not working. Trail was clearly marked with emergency markers on pavement to allow first responders to be able to locate you quickly and accurately. Park is kept up nicely. Lots of wildlife.
