Meramec Greenway Trailhead: Arnold's Grove

Great parking clean area. Nice pavilion. Easy access to the trail. Very flat handicap accessible all the way out to the pavilion near a grassy Hill overlooking the train track

Very nice paved trail. The length varies depending upon what you want. You can walk/bike about 2 miles to Simpson Park or go another 1.3 miles further to Greentree Park or do anything in-between. You can also go to Simpson Park and extend your walk by walking around Simpson Park before heading back. The path generally goes parallel to the Meramac River and has some nice river views. There are lots of trees along the trail, but I'm not sure of shade coverage since I hiked in the winter. Several bench along the trail to take a rest. Lots of parking at Trailhead.

This trail is absolutely stunning, a perfect blend of nature and tranquility. The path is well-maintained and suitable for hiking, walking, and running. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to connect with the outdoors. The scenery is breathtaking, and I can't wait to visit again. It's a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels.

At Valley Park's Arnold's Grove Trailhead Park, we enjoyed the views of: the Meramec River, the rapids, the 1923 BNSF 3-span through truss bridge over the Meramec River downstream, the 1929 Union Pacific closed-spandrel arch bridge over Fishpot Creek, and the mouth of Fishpot Creek. Besides the Meramec Greenway Trailhead, there are benches, a pavilion, and 3 flagpoles. Some fish from the bank of the Meramec River. There are no restroom facilities nor playground equipment.

What a gorgeous, well maintained trail! Stopped by for a little suburban trekking on our way home from Chicago. Planned on trekking 2 miles but enjoyed it so much we ended up doing six! Dogs on leashes are welcome. Moderately high traffic but everyone was courteous so it never felt too crowded. If you're looking for someplace to stretch your legs, this'll be perfect. PS - the toilets looked a little sketchy so we just ran up the road, bought a bottle of water, & used the one at the BP station!
