(from Google)I did not have a pleasant grooming experience, felt unwelcomed and judged. The groom itself was fine, nothing special. I went to a professional to do a better job than I can and it was extremely underwhelming - and not worth the price tag.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Grooming department is completely unknowledgeable. I have two dogs both are 8 years old and have been getting groomed their entire lives between Petco and PetSmart, we usually take them to whichever business has the soonest openings. It was explained at drop off that we just moved to the area and missed the last groom, I understood my long hair dog was matted and was looking for a start over cut. I also advised that she does better when I am not around and every other location has been perfectly fine taking her straight to the back and not making a big deal about the handoff. This location however wanted to do their whole coat assessment on the floor while I was still there. I understand this is part of their process, but every other location has not had issues taking her to the back. Since she is protective, she snapped at the tech and was essentially kicked out of grooming all together. 8 years of being groomed without issues. After this, they also refused to bathe my second dog because she was shedding and I didn’t not want to upgrade to the $140 deshed plus extra brushing package. WHAT DOG DOES NOT SHED, I can give her extra brushing myself I don’t need to pay for an extra 40 to brush her when there’s no way to verify you are actually providing that extra service. Pitiful excuse for groomers at this location.
I rarely shopped at Petco in the past, but needed to find certain prescription food for my dog. One thing led to another and I was lucky enough to speak with BROOKE, who was a life saver. Not only did she let me know about the food I needed, but she was knowledgeable, charming and so smart!!! I now will be a future customer in Kernersville, even though I live in Greensboro. Thank you Brooke!!
The service and care we received today at the Kernersville location was outstanding. We had to put our dog down due to cancer. We're new customers. We were treated like long time friends by everyone! It meant a lot to us. We'll return with other pets going forward. Thank you.
Why I will never step foot in petco again… Two weeks ago my boyfriend and I came to this petco in Kernersville to just browse and look at the animals. I had recently thought about buying a chameleon and found that there were two young veiled chameleons in a tank. We went to the front and asked an employee to help us find everything we need for a chameleon enclosure and he was very friendly. He seemed very knowledgeable on these reptiles and happy to help us. He showed us a starter kit that was about $160. In the beginning I was reluctant to buy the kit because the quality seemed very cheap but the worker insisted that this was the best thing to buy for the chameleon. The kit came with a fake bendy grape vine, a tiny fake plant with a suction cup on it, reptile vitamin powder, a lamp for the heat and UVB bulbs, the cage itself and a small reptile carpet that fits in the bottom of the cage. I don’t know who might be reading this review but for the people who don’t know but chameleons can become sick and die when their husbandry is not correct. The kit the worker sent us with left 90% of the cage empty which is super stressful for chameleons. If you look into your cage and can always immediately find your cham then you know your cage doesn’t have enough in it. I’ll attach a picture of the cage set up and you can see how empty it was and everything with a red circle was what was in the kit. My chameleon was so stressed with that set up and it was really upsetting to see her like that. This kit came with a heat bulb that was almost 50 watts colder than it needed to be. As soon as I went and bought the right bulb her behavior immediately changed. She was more lively and seemed less stressed. My other concern was how we were straight up lied to about the sex and age of the chameleon. You are able to sex chameleons at birth by whether they have spurs or not on the back of their feet. The worker told us it was a male when it was in fact a female. We were told the chameleon was 5 to 6 months when she was actually 5 to 6 weeks. I’ll add pictures of the chameleon too so you can look up what a six week old vs a six month old. I love my chameleon so much already and I am gonna love her to the best of my ability but I will never purchase another pet from there. They are not taking care of their pets well at all it’s practically abuse. They are all about sales not about animal care. Please do not buy animals from here it only contributes to the abuse. :(
