Very pleasant in the winter months but I bet it's full of bugs flying around in the summer.

The Fire Swamp Disc Golf course lives up to its name. Very heavily wooded with extremely tight fairways and lots of vegetation on each hole, but several water hazards. The holes are pretty short, so even if you hit a tree on your first shot, if you can get a good follow up shot its pretty easy to par most of the holes.

What a great find! I took my dog for a walk here, and we explored this large park. There were plenty of bathrooms throughout the ball fields. We walked the road for a while and then walked some trails around a small pond. Of course, the dog needed to get into the water! We stumbled upon the frisbee golf course as well, and they have a few playgrounds for kids. They also have an area with picnic tables and grills.

If you want to hike or disc golf in a genuine swamp, subtropical environment and you’re not from around here, I definitely say you should check this place out! My only complaints are that after Hole 6 on the disc golf course it gets quite confusing. After Hole 7 the order is unintelligible and I decided to quit since I couldn’t find Hole 8 and ended up playing some unidentified hole. Also it was getting dark. Which brings me to the next point that the hours are very unclear as well. Signs say that it’s dawn to dusk, yet Google says it closes at 8 PM and people were still at the park with their cars at dusk. Still, I didn’t want to risk getting locked in there (it does say they lock the gates) since you have to call the cops to get out, though the police station is literally right next door so it probably wouldn’t take long… I wouldn’t risk a fine or something for bad hours and unclear labeling though. Even in December there seem to be gnats and mosquitos… but I certainly won’t complain about swamp conditions in a disc golf course called “Fire Swamp”! The course and area is honestly gorgeous, it’s just very oppressive humidity so you might want to bring bug spray and be prepared to get worn out even in winter months. Again, if you’re not from around here, Charleston is a 9a climate zone and so it’s even more subtropical than other areas of South Carolina or even Georgia for that matter… it’s a must-see if you like wetlands!

I've been to this park many times but today was my first time hiking the trails. It was a great hike around the this little island. There is fishing and boating access. I was able to take really nice pictures with me and my children. I love that it's tucked away but there's not many signs indicating where the trails are located. There are also 2 playgrounds and fields for organized sports.
