New River Gorge National Park was one of the highlights of our road trip. The scenery is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking overlooks, rolling mountains, deep gorges, and the iconic New River Gorge Bridge. The natural beauty of the area makes it easy to understand why it has become one of America’s newest national parks. We especially enjoyed the scenic viewpoints, which provide incredible opportunities for photography and relaxation without requiring long hikes. The park is well maintained, easy to access, and offers a variety of experiences for visitors of all ages. One thing to keep in mind is that some attractions and overlooks require additional driving, and cell phone service can be limited in certain areas. Planning ahead can make the visit more enjoyable. Overall, New River Gorge National Park is a wonderful destination for anyone who appreciates nature, scenic drives, and beautiful mountain views. Whether you are passing through or planning a dedicated visit, it is definitely worth the stop. Highly recommended.

The view of the river below and the bridge overlook were both spectacular! There's an option to go further down to see a better view of the river, but we opted not to do it due to health reasons. It you are fit to do it, I heard it is well worth doing!

New River Gorge Bridge competed in 1977. Traveling went from 45 min. (old road) to 45 sec. drive across the bridge. We traveled the old road! It was no joke! The story about this bridge is fascinating. Lots of trails and well taken care of. The Long Point and Diamond Point were 2 relatively easy trails with excellent rewards. The visitor center was helpful, variety of merchandise, viewing area, video, clean bathrooms. Stunning area! A beautiful National Park (region). No main gates, free 💖!

New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is a really nice place to visit. The scenery is beautiful and it’s a great spot to learn more about the area while enjoying the outdoors. The National Park Service store is well stocked with plenty of souvenirs and gifts to choose from, which makes it fun to browse and pick up something to remember your visit. The visitor center itself has lots of educational displays and areas that teach you about the history, nature, and geology of the park. One of the best parts is the amazing view of the New River Gorge Bridge from the center. It’s truly impressive and definitely worth stopping to see. Overall, it’s a wonderful national park and a great place to spend some time exploring and learning.

New River Gorge is simply gorgeous. We camped nearby and accessed the visitor’s center, which had spectacular views. We also descended the nearby steps that ran about halfway down the gorge, which is highly recommended. Afterwards, we took the self-guided driving tour down the gorge to see more of the sites. The drive down the gorge was the highlight of our trip but the road is extremely windy so it may not be for the faint of heart.
