(from Google)Always a nice area to explore. Trail overgrowth was a bit of a nuisance in the past, but has improved over the years. I can tell they've put in a lot of time and effort to widen and maintain some of the more high-traffic areas 🌳🫶
This used to be my favorite KC Urban Area hike. The trail maintenance seems to have fallen off. The trail was overgrown in a lot of places. We ended up covered in chiggers and oak mites despite a good application of bug spray. I would recommend hiking only in the dead of winter.
It has rained lately, but that didn't stop anyone from riding or hiking when it was super muddy. The trail ran out and I turned back. Probably not so bad if it were dry and had some traffic to it. I don't think this is a great trail, where other hikes are close by. Just stick to the wide trail if you use this trailhead area. I wouldn't go back.
I find this place to be peaceful and a great place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I visit one of my favorite trees and listen to the water flow. The trails are nice and it really gives you the feeling you can only get when you're surrounded by nature. I would recommend it to anyone especially if you're looking for a place to take your family that doesn't cost a thing. Memories are made at places like this.
Awesome, easy place to hike. It was beautiful after the snow over the weekend, interested to come back during warmer temperatures as well.
