Broadway Grooming Clinic & school

I had this epiphany one day, and I realized that I wanted to learn how to groom dogs! I have always been an animal lover, especially dogs. I did a quick search and I found that there is a pet grooming school right here in my hometown, Oakland, CA. My husband and I went down to meet Alfonso, and it was very easy to tell that he comes with a lot of knowledge and experience. My long term goal is to open up my own mobile dog grooming service, and Alfonso explained (as well in great detail about the program) that it would take roughly 3 months to receive my certificate. It was really fun to come to class on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11:00 - 2:00pm. During classes, Alfonso's clients would bring in their dogs and as students, it would hands on for grooming the dogs. Sometimes, it could a little tough, like clipping there nails, or trimming their adorable faces if the wiggled a lot. As I (we, as in my fellow students) gained more confidence, we would rotate on services, like bathing, trimming, clipping, combing, brushing, cleaning ears, etc. Every dog has their own unique personality, but it was always fun and exciting each class. Alfonso's school is fantastic, and he is very easy to get along with. You will not be disappointed if you sign up for the program.

I was able to make an appointment within a few days of calling luckily, he was very responsive and flexible with timing. Did a great job combing out the mats, removing the winter undercoat, and performing a sanitary cut on my skittish long haired cat (Turkish Angora), and also provided good general grooming advice. Just remember that you may need to premedicate your cat, but Alfonso will give you a quote and consultation on the requirements before he can work.

I am over the moon with how great this place is! It was our first time here with our 4 year old cat Trixie. Alfonso was very gentle and efficient with grooming our cat! He was also able to give us advice about our cat food and where to get it. Honestly, it was a very positive experience. We hope to book more sessions here!

Alfonso’s team was very welcoming, patient, and helpful when it came to my fur baby’s visit this morning. Alfonso himself was very communicative, efficient, and precise which was great since my cat had not had grooming experience until now. He also allowed me to stay during the session since my cat had not been groomed previously, both of us appreciated this!

Alfonso and his team (students) at the Broadway Pet Grooming School were very professional, timely and accommodating to the needs of my pet. I was happy they followed covid protocols, and I felt my pet and I were well taken care off. I will definitely be a repeat customer with my pet’s grooming needs. Thank you for taking us in during these upside down times as my pet still needed the care he was given. Highly recommend! New review for 8/6/22 since last review was in 2021. Alfonso and his team have always done an awesome job on my cat. I have been going here annually, past 3 yrs for my cat's haircut since he has long hair and it can get really matted. I now schedule before I notice the mats starting to make it easier for Alfonso and my cat. My cat feels great and happy after his haircut!!! I do give my cat Bach's pet rescue remedy the night before and right before the haircut to help him calm down. Alfonso is great to work with and has amazing animal knowledge.
