(from Google)Nice little shady park to sit and eat lunch. Some people are truly slobs. Fast food trash just dropped on the ground (today) ten feet from a trash can.
This is one of the better parks in Topeka! Its shady and cool, peaceful and quiet. Guess what.. It has a Church's Fried Chicken place right across the street!
This park is nice during the day. It is my favorite place to go for a run. Only occasionally do I find myself being harrassed by a group of city- workers or a stalking homeless man. 7 out of 10 visits to this park will be pleasant and you wont even fear for your safety. 3 out of 10 visits to this park will be Typical Topeka Scary. As a woman- DO NOT visit this park after dark, and please do not let your children play there at night without somone tough to supervise. There have been incidents of violence at the Churches and the Liquor store across the street- it simply isnt worth the risk.
With Gage park right nearby theres some competition, but I love this place! Pretty setting, good for jogging or picnicing. I jusy wish the tennis courts werent so run down, the place could use a bit of polish. Plus at night, pretty sure some people would be buying or selling drugs and other services...these days the police seem to visit there regularly enough to deter that. When the suns up? Love going here.
I showed up at sunset it was beautiful. I saw two owls. Then I went to play on the teeter totter then fell off and started bleeding bad. But luckily the near by Churches chicken was very helpful and bandaged me up well. The water fountain also was good. Nice and cold. Over all 5 / 5
