Visited on a weekend morning. Trail is so calm and serene. Loved the walk around 4 miles hike. As of March 2026, certain portions of the trail is closed for renovation. Do check for the construction signs for closed pathways. Ample parking available during non peak hours but very challenging. Accessibility options available within the park. Have a good hike

This is the most beautiful place in DFW. Lovely, assessible, well kept. I have enjoyed walking in every season. My big kids loved the play ground. The whole place is dog friendly. Feels really safe. Paved ways and dirt trails

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas is a true hidden gem and one of the best outdoor spaces in North Texas. The preserve offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and well-maintained trails, making it ideal for hikers, runners, families, and anyone looking to unwind outdoors. The paved and unpaved trails are clearly marked and suitable for all fitness levels, whether you want a leisurely walk or a more challenging hike through the rolling hills. The scenery is beautiful year-round, with wildflowers in the spring, shaded paths in the summer, colorful foliage in the fall, and peaceful open views in the winter. The overlook tower provides a great view of the surrounding landscape and is well worth the short climb. Arbor Hills is also very clean and well cared for, with helpful signage, restrooms near the entrance, and plenty of parking. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly, and a great place for photography, picnics, or simply getting some fresh air. Overall, Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a wonderful escape from city life without leaving town. Whether you’re looking for exercise, relaxation, or a scenic spot to explore nature, this preserve is absolutely worth a visit.

Lots of shade throughout the trails, if you decide to walk the pavement trail it should be easy enough for children and family. I would leave the dirt trails for more experienced hikers. One thing I noticed is that the trail and creek are clean and well maintained compared to others I’ve seen! Also, at the time I hiked, there was some construction and certain trails closed just fyi. The restrooms are ok. There are several benches throughout the trail for you to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet! The tower provides an awesome view and really makes you feel you are surrounded in mother nature! I can say so far this is one of my best trails! Definitely will be back!

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is one of those places that makes you forget you are anywhere near a city. I stopped by while visiting clients in Plano and it blew me away. Wide open trails, quiet pockets of nature, and views that look way better in person than any photo you try to take. The creek, the overlook, the wildlife, all of it feels calm and clean. You can walk, jog, or just sit and regroup for a minute and no one bothers you. Perfect spot to clear your head before meetings or after a long travel day. If every city had a preserve like this, people would probably be a lot nicer.
