Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital

We’ve gone to Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital for 13 years with our Labrador. Now that we have a new puppy we’re taking her there too. The doctors and staff are wonderful and very caring. We feel she’s in good hands.

We have a large, anxious german shepherd who does not love being at the vet. In the past, we have been made to feel shame over how our dog reacts, and unwelcome at certain vet practices. Floyd Harbor staff goes above and beyond to help make our dog comfortable, and the process of going to the vet as easy as possible. They squeeze us in when he isn't feeling well, and are very thorough during his yearly physicals. The entire staff from the front desk girls (especially the manager), the techs, and Dr Goldstein are all very great with our dog, and we are grateful to have such a caring practice local to us.

The staff was kind and compassionate when taking care of our beloved pup. They offered us reassurance and allowed us the time we needed to say goodbye. We are extremely grateful.

Floyd Harbor is truly the best veterinary clinic in the Nation— hands down. Although, it may sound dramatic, it's true! I travel the world with my dog. We've been to all types of clinics and the best is right here, in Shirley. They have the most compassionate, dedicated, and genuinely caring staff I’ve ever encountered. This is not a paid review or written by anyone who works there — I’m simply a deeply grateful member of the community who is in awe of the kindness and care they show every single day. Even if I didn’t live nearby, I would still make the drive here. They consistently go above and beyond to help, and it’s clear that every single person on the team truly loves what they do. From the front desk to the vets themselves, there isn’t a single person here who treats this like “just a job.” They genuinely want to help you, get to know you, and care for your pet like their own. It doesn’t matter if your dog or cat is the “cutest” or most healthy or not — if it’s special to you, it’s special to them. And the level of love and attention they show is unmatched. We’ve seen Dr. Won and Dr. Spetko, and they are absolute gems. We first saw Dr. Won, and I immediately knew I wanted to see her again for our next visit. However, she wasn’t available, so we saw Dr. Spetko instead — and she was absolutely incredible as well. After experiencing care from both of them, I now feel completely confident seeing any veterinarian on their team. It’s clear that every doctor here is highly qualified, compassionate, and dedicated to providing the best possible care. Their bedside manner is outstanding — they’re kind, patient, and incredibly thorough. They treated my dog with such a gentle, loving touch and made sure to look me in the eyes, answer all of my questions, and explain everything clearly. I never once felt rushed or brushed off. They treated me like a human and gave me the time, care, and attention I deserved — honestly, more than what I even expected. They’re exactly the kind of veterinarians every pet owner hopes to find. The vet technicians at Floyd Harbor are phenomenal angels. I get all of my dog’s vaccines, nail trims, and the medication he needs to stay calm during them here. He also has all of his wellness exams done at this clinic, so everything for his care is handled in one trusted place. Recently, they helped me navigate a frustrating situation with another vet’s office (here's looking at you--Three Village Vet in Stoney Brook) that had been disorganized and unhelpful, and Floyd Harbor did so with kindness, professionalism, and grace. My dog is perfectly healthy, and I only needed paperwork transferred because we’re moving out of state. They still treated us and the other clinic with the utmost care and patience despite not getting paid to do so and it being a tough situation. I’ve had some disappointing experiences at other clinics, but Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital has completely changed what I thought was possible. They go beyond 100% — and I truly can’t thank them enough. If you’re looking for a veterinary clinic, stop searching. This is the place. I trust them completely with my dog, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I'd take them with me if I could. Side note: You can easily book appointments online and they are wonderful on the phone as well.
