(from Google)Very easy trail. The falls are more like rapids but still beautiful. I'm not in shape by any means and this was very easy.
Absolutely beautiful scenery with well groomed trail. Some portions are uneven. Be ready to go up and down to get the best views of thr river and falls.
Even though this is a short and simple hike, it is by far my family’s favorite in Bend. The views are so beautiful and the hike is easy for anyone with kids or who has mobility needs. We love Benham Falls and will continue to come back year after year.
So lots of good reviews of the brevity and beauty of this quick 1/2 mile hike but one of the things that jumped out most to me was the duality of the topography as you strolled along the Deschutes from the trailhead to the falls. Once you cross the wooden bridge and head north, as you walk along the river on your right (west) is the edge of the black and stark lava fields that make up the main site of the Lava Butte cinder cone, but where you are walking and everything to your left (east) is gently sloping pine and evergreen forest. Throw in the gently meandering waters of the Deschutes and you have a little bit of everything that central Oregon’s high desert landscape has to offer on this short and scenic hike. Whether you are parking/hiking or biking from Sunriver, definitely visit these falls!!
Absolutely magical, we had a great time walking the dogs, casting some reels, and enjoying a perfect family moment. I'ts a very peaceful retreat.
