(from Google)Somehow trailed here twice in a 2-week-period. The trail is easy to moderate, a good option for newbies to hiking. Route is manageable, however, as you approach the waterfall, it gets rocky. The waterfall is best viewed from the left side, which might be hard to access that side.
It’s an easy walk down to Paradise Falls, and this time of year the yellow of invasive black mustard stands out. The trail is wide and easy to follow with good signage. The falls are lovely dropping into a deep pool. If you continue on the path up the creek, you’ll come to a turnoff to Little Cave, only 0.6 miles on that’s worth a look. The hike back up to parking lot takes some effort.
This was a great trail with well marked signs. Some reviews say this is an easy hike and anyone can do it. There are some pretty decent elevation changes (for me) as well as some washed out sections and you really have to choose your steps carefully. Fortunately, it was a cool and cloudy day - there is no shade. At the tipi, there is a water fountain. Due to my skill level, I did not feel prepared to go all the way to the falls, so that was a little bit of a letdown but the scenery was absolutely magnificent and most sections seemed well maintained.
If you’re looking for a peaceful escape into nature without venturing too far from the city, Paradise Falls is a gem tucked away in Thousand Oaks. The hike to the falls is scenic and moderately easy, making it great for both beginners and casual hikers. The trails are well-maintained and offer a beautiful mix of open meadows, shady groves, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The waterfall itself is a lovely sight—especially after a good rain. It’s not massive, but it’s serene and makes for a perfect spot to take a break, snap photos, or just enjoy the sound of running water. There are plenty of picnic areas and spots to relax near the falls, so packing a lunch is a great idea. One thing to note: there’s no swimming allowed in the water, and depending on the season, the flow can be low. But it’s still totally worth the hike. Parking is free, and the trailhead is easy to find in Wildwood Regional Park.
