Purely Positive Dog Training

We had a fantastic experience with our trainer Susan. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and practical, and tailored everything to our puppy and home environment. She was especially helpful preparing us for bringing a baby into the home, giving us clear training strategies to our family and puppy up for success. We saw real improvement after each session and learned a lot ourselves. Highly recommend!!

I had a fantastic experience with Susan’s private training classes for my beagle Cody, who has an abuse history and issues with fear aggression (on top of being a typical stubborn beagle) that led to me being out of answers about how to re-socialize him. Susan was able to understand his situation immediately and structured a program that was perfect for what he needed at this stage of his life, working with me each session to find the right level of challenge and adding new techniques each time. After several sessions it was clear that Cody was quickly picking up on our techniques to improve his recall, defensiveness around the house, leash walking, resource guarding, and stress threshold around other dogs. After finishing his training, I have a peace of mind I haven’t had in years that Cody can handle situations that were previously impossible, and I look forward to being able to spend more time with him outside the house. I highly recommend Susan as an expert positive trainer that will customize her program towards you and your dog’s unique challenges and leave you with plenty of educational material to continue to reinforce the techniques you learned!

Christine was a great fit for us as she owns dogs with similar traits as our golden She gave us simple and clear instructions to help with our 1 year old female with prey drive, recall, leash walking with a gentle leader, grooming. She emailed us a recap after each lesson with instructions and videos. She even met us on the beach to work on our puppy’s obsession with birds. Her teaching style is calm and laidback. We will definitely call her if we need more help and highly recommend her.

We have a very smart and strong-willed puppy and knew we needed personalized help with training. Susan was a life changer! During our first session, she helped us teach him key commands like "leave it" and "wait" and gave us helpful advice about managing his energy and toddler tantrums. We purchased three sessions and saw our puppy learn and grow so much with each additional session. Susan truly helped us establish a solid foundation of training for our puppy. I would highly recommend her and will absolutely use her services again!

5 stars are not enough for my experience working with Susan and Purely Positive Training. I adopted a Bassett/Spaniel mix a year ago with serious resource guarding issues and anxiety. After getting booted out of doggy daycare I signed him up for a month of boarding training (never did this before with dogs I've had over the years). It was a disaster, he returned more anxious than when he went. Vet visits and grooming required sedation and I became anxious about taking him out with my other dogs. At the suggestion of my vet and the rescue I contacted Susan. From the first session I felt more confident and hopeful. The dogs loved it when she came to train, and the anxious dog responded immediately to her. What's so effective is that after each session Susan sends a very detailed summary of each lesson (with videos) for you to practice. Today my anxious boy went to the vet with his "sisters" and not only was he taking treats from the vet he nearly attacked last time, but performed one of the tricks Susan taught him for the staff. This was such a great experience for everyone. What I've learned from working with Susan is that by working with your dog and a great trainer, your bond with even the most anxious dog will grow and the quality of life for both of you will be so much better!
