(from Google)DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! SEVERELY UNDERSTAFFED WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE. I took my three cats here 3 days ago after they accidentally ingested my dogs apoquel overnight. My fiancé sat for eight hours (before they started quoting people 6-8 hours) while they checked vitals on our cats. Only one of our cats (thankfully) showed signs of toxicity and we elected to hospitalize her over night. I was called that evening with the results of her lab work confirming elevated kidney and liver values and told I would receive an update the following morning. By 11:15am on Day 2, I hadn’t heard anything and called the for an update. The vet was unavailable and I was told I would “hopefully” receive a call in the next couple of hours. I called back at 2:15 and asked for an update and was told the vet would call me as soon as possible and that my cat’s lab results just came back. By 3:50, having received no update on her wellbeing, I called back and only after I threatened to pick her up because the quality of her care was in question did I speak with a vet who said I could pick her up. It then took 50 minutes to discharge her when we arrived to pick her up. I was instructed to take her back for bloodwork the following day and was assured that it would be “quick.” This is Day 3. We take her back for bloodwork and they take us to a room and get her blood within the first 20 minutes. We then sit in the room for an hour and a half with no vet update. It took me going to the front desk asking to pay and threatening to leave before a vet talked me with the updated blood values. This vet practice is NOT cheap. Cumulatively I spent about $2500 on exams, hospitalization, and bloodwork. They only staff one vet at a time and people walking in on Day 2 and Day 3 were getting quoted 10-12 hour wait times. We saw dogs defecating blood in the lobby with no assistance. Whoever owns this practice should be ashamed of themselves and is clearly only doing this to make money. To the owner: Staff your facility with more than one vet at a time, especially since it’s the only one in the area. If your animal is experiencing an emergency, you are better off going to another practice in Greensboro or Kannapolis. I will NEVER return to this practice again.
My partner and I would like to thank everybody that took care of Gary on January 19th and 20th from the bottom of our hearts 🫶🏼 Sleepless nights make remembering names hard, but you know who you are!!! We couldn’t be more grateful to have been met with such profound amounts of kindness, intelligence, gentleness and compassion during such a scary time. Gary is home giving us all the purrs, kisses, head bonks, and slow blinks that we stopped seeing before bringing him to CVS. He’s been eating his new wet food and drinking allll the water and is one happy guy now that his belly feels better. Everything from triage to pickup following his procedure was top notch and we are grateful for all of the honest information that was given to us during his treatment on how to prevent this from happening again so that he can live a looong happy life with us and his sister Lulu (who is sooo happy to have him home!) Thank you for understanding that this guy is our baby and for taking such wonderful care of him. It was terrifying to think about leaving him but seeing how well cared for he was by all of the staff he saw made it so much easier. We knew he was in good hands the moment we walked in. Thanks for loving him as much as we do!!! We love yall and are comfortable in knowing that if there is ever an emergency, there’s a fantastic group of humans available to do everything they can 🤍😸🐾🫶🏼
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the team at CVS. My first visit was a late weekend night in September, and even though the only doctor on duty was in the middle of surgery, they still stepped out (with the help of an understanding front desk employee) to quickly check my cat and make sure he wasn’t blocked. Within minutes, we were reassured and on our way. This weekend, I made the heartbreaking call to see if they could help him cross peacefully. From the moment I spoke with the front desk, I was met with genuine compassion. They immediately placed us in a quiet room and checked on me often despite how busy the hospital was. The vet tech was gentle, able to effortlessly make me giggle in such a trying time. Dr. Braun was patient, answered every question, and guided me through the process without ever making me feel rushed. Everyone I encountered went above and beyond during easily one of the hardest experiences I've had. I feel like this clinic occasionally gets flack for being expensive or unfriendly, but in my experience, the premium reflects the level of specialty care convenience, and the comfort of having trusted help when you truly need it. We all want the best for our pets, and this team delivered that and more. I wish I had taken note of all of the employees I interacted with so I could thank them by name, but truly everyone we encountered was fantastic and so, so incredibly kind. I will always be deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and heart they showed Biscuit and I.
My daughter’s kitten hit her head , which caused her to have a bad seizure & I called around a this was the only place within an hour that could get her in to be seen. I drove 50 mins at 2 am & they got her right back, they didn’t charge me a crazy amount & I just can’t thank them enough for helping us. I am forever grateful!! The staff was very empathetic & I can tell they care about what they do! I have been to other emergency vets and I can attest that they’re not all this way! Some are very cold, even in the situation that you have to have your pet euthanized suddenly. My pets are family & they treated us with compassion & thoroughly explained options, suggested insurance & told us of other awesome vet offices around the triad. Highly recommend! Thank you so much Carolina Veterinary Specialists of Winston Salem!
About three years ago, our sweet boy suffered a urinary blockage — something I’ve since learned is sadly common in male cats. Of course, it happened late at night on a weekend, so we rushed to Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Winston and met Dr. Blair, who was calm, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She treated him and gave us hope he’d recover. Unfortunately, due to no fault of Dr. Blair or her team, he blocked again just days later, and after a failed surgery at our regular vet, we found ourselves right back at CVS, terrified and heartbroken. By the time we arrived, his organs were shutting down. Their team jumped into action without hesitation. Dr. Cogar performed a difficult PU revision surgery the very next morning, and thanks to their quick work and compassionate care — he survived. Fast forward three years later, he blocked again (thanks to the stress of a new furry sibling), and who walked into the room? Dr. Blair. Once again, she was calm, compassionate, and reassuring even in the middle of a chaotic Saturday night. Less than 48 hours later, our boy was back home — happy, healthy, and alive. I know emergency vets sometimes get mixed reviews because they meet people on one of the worst nights of their lives, but I can’t say enough good things about this team. They do an incredibly hard job with so much heart. I pray we never need them again, but if we do, I’ll walk through those doors knowing my babies are in the best possible hands. 💛
